These are all considered " Air Dry " clays, so yes, you just leave them out and they dry. It is best to let them sit out for about 24 to 48 hours depending on the humidity, and heat of the day. Once dry, they will have a slightly squishy texture, which is really cute and fun! If you want them to be super hard though, you can paint them with a sealer or varnish! Thanks for your question! ;p

I just heard back from a company in Japan. I can get the books, and they would sell for $40 a piece, but I need 10 people to pre-order them before I buy them. If you guys really want a copy, comment below or send me an email, then when I get 10 people I will send out paypal invoices to accept the pre-payment, and then ship them out once they arrive.
Here is another website featuring a similar concept and recipe:
I bought my copy of this book in Japan, and I have never seen a copy for sale here in the United States. It can be hard to search for because there are several translations of the name into english. Here are some common titles I have seen in called: 1. Chao Roll Deco building more! Roll Cake Patterns 2. Deco would make roll! Roll cake with patterned 3.Roll cake would make more ★ Deco patterned roll! Hen and animal character Just remember when you search for it that the authors name is Junko!
Thank you for the nice comment, I am happy that this post was helpful to you!

Canola or Soy oil are not good substitutions because they are veggie based oils. This means that the residue from them can build up in your molds and cause the molds to deteriorate. Also these oils actually make most clays to get stickier! They are also very oily and many clays will absorb this oil. This is bad especially for airdry clays because they will not dry correctly with oily residue. Mold Oil, is not as thick and oily, also it does not ever go rancid and veggie oils can, and it never builds up a residue. It is meant to be used with Molds, so it will not harm your molds or affect the drying times, or ability of air dry clays. Also if you are using an oven baked clay, veggie oils are also bad because they will burn, and can cause the clay to bake unevenly. Mold Oil is great too because you only need one drop for many many uses. I have been using the same tiny bottle for over a year now...and I make a lot of clay mold cabochons! I made over 30 just last night!

I think they are pretty easy to understand, mainly because they have sooo many pictures in them! I bought my copies in Japan! They are very very hard to find in the United States. I do not know of anyone currently stocking them in the states right now. I suggest making some penpal friends in Japan, and seeing if they will find some for you! I will be caring some books soon at I have not found a source for this one yet, but I will have many others that have to do with clay and miniature making.
