My Pa was teaching my sister and I the button accordian before he passed. He left his first ever accordian to me which stays high up on display but the children love to play the accordian he brought for me to learn on. You have bought back some lovely memories tonight. Thankyou.

Raised beds are fantastic. IT is the oldstyle corogatted iron water tanks We had an old one on the farm. My husbad cut it in three and there we have it. Three new vegie patchs.
Our Vegie Patch
I’m so very excited to be getting our fresh produce from our garden again. Its about time, these poor plants have been on a bit of a journey what with being dug up twice by the chooks and all. So here we have it our onions and garlic. We have green beans popping up down the back and carrots ...
Yum, I cant wait till our berries are in season. My brother is working on a farm picking strawberries at the moment, I think that would be my dream job!
summer scrapbook :: berry picking and jam making...
Summer would not feel complete without little hands (and big hands!) harvesting bucketfuls of berries ... Aside from the blueberry picking we did up in Humboldt in July, we embarked on a day trip to Swanton Berry Farms on the coast near Half Moon Bay in August. We started in the bl...
Oh how I love relaxing in a hammock. We havn't hung our up since we moved, which has been over a year now. Job for this week, Hang up the hammock ;-)
.: A Time To Keep :.
.: My oldest son enjoying his time while reading us a story aloud :. This morning was spent under an old apple tree in the back yard. The sun felt warm and the air was crisp. The scent of apples and dried leaves scented the air to give us a hint that autumn was surrounding us. Three strong a...

Day 76: updates and more prizes
Dropped Sam off at preschool this morning and the teacher informed me that "Today is all about water!" Awesome. Can't wait to see what Sam looks like when I pick her up! So, updates. Update 1 - We finally hung up the nut-ball-squirrel-feeder thing that we made back on Day 29 . It has been i...
Party dresses are great for the farm. My daughter wears her flower girl dress in the paddocks with her dad quite often.
cherishing summertime
Last week was cold and felt like fall was coming, but this week summer is back and we're glad for that! The farm kids have declared that the pond is already too cold to swim in. We've had lows in the thirties for over a week now, and that kind of cold is bound to make the pond chilly! That...

corners of our home :: color!
Two quick notes before I ramble on about paint today: Thank you SO much for all the concerned emails and comments about lead paint! Having always lived in old homes, we are fully aware, and taking appropriate precautions (many of which were actually done before we bought the home, thankfully.) S...
Lupine looks gorgeous and so ready to dance, she has the same look my daughter had when she started jazz funk at the start of this year.
First Ballet Class.
She's been waiting for almost year. Last fall Lupine heard about ballet from a friend who was taking a class. Dresses? Dancing? Fancy shoes? My girl was obsessed. She wanted to take a class - right away. We decided to wait a year. (To me even three and a half seems young for taking a class. I...

Happy Fathers Day
Jasmine woke up extra early this morning to wrap Haydn’s Fathers Day gift, with a little bit of help from Billy. After the presents were all wrapped she insisted on making him his morning coffee all by herself and then they were off to wake him up. After Billy had jumped on Haydn to w...

Im with you Suse, Im from Australia and have never owned a dryer in my life. Wooden clothehorse for winter and also the backs of chairs do the trick. We also have a closet where our hot water service is. We find that if we need clothes dry for the next day this is the best spot to put them.
Summer is ... Lessons learned over a summer "on the line"
Our clothes dryer broke at the end of April, and although my husband has had the best of intentions to repair it all summer, there hasn't been a whole lot of motivation because we've been drying on the line. This has been my first "real" line-drying experience. Most of my adult life has been spe...

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see. Wishing...
