Hello all! As I promised I have samples of some fabulously blue home decor items for you to peruse. In case you missed out on last week's issue of my 2012 color forecast it was all about the blue trend. Think indigo, periwinkle, and denim to embrace that moody blue feeling. Continue reading

Welcome to another NStyle update on the color forecast for 2012. I am personally excited about this one because blue is my favorite color... well one of my top three favorites anyway. The turquoise and aqua shades have dominated the blue scene for several years but we finally are seeing a shift to a new blue. There will be three key blues moving into 2012. Continue reading

No panic necessary! Red Alert is a good thing here at N Style. So far the color forecast series has covered orange and gold. This week is all about the beautiful, bold and vibrant red trend. I'm sure you have noticed the return of bold red lipstick in cosmetics and on the pages of fashion magazines. Well, that trend has influenced the shade of red for homes moving into 2012. This week N Style continues to explore the color trends for 2012. Last week I shared with you the orange trend and now I want to share the gold trend with you. We have seen yellows for the past few seasons in brighter renditions like the green yellow color that was dubbed grellow and some other neon varieties. Now the yellow palette is graduating to a more sophisticated gold tone. Soft ivories to deeper traditional golds will make their way into home decor. Continue reading

This week begins N Style's color forecast series for 2012. And with the beautiful Fall colors for inspiration I feel it's only proper to begin with the orange color trend. For 2012 orange will be cast as a warm rusty tone and then move into a brighter almost neon hue for 2013. Continue reading

Here is a sampling of some great pieces that exemplify the New Americana trend. Fresh colors and recreations of familiar patterns create a comfortable and somewhat nostalgic look for your home. Painted wood furniture, pressed glass, china patterns, roosters, and quilts are all key elements to this fun new twist to the classic Americana look. Continue reading

The New Americana is a trend that is emerging in home fashions. This trend is not the arts and crafts looking, stars and stripes, red white and blue kind of thing we have seen in the past.It took root in the bold Suzani prints that have been popular in home textiles such as bedding and decorative pillows. The Suzani patterns have a homespun artisanal feel to them and that has morphed into what I am naming the New Americana trend. Continue reading

As promised I have a collage of items that can transport your space back in time for the Mod Men trend. This is just a handful of options that are out there. Don't just limit your options to new items. Check out antique stores, estate and garage sales, and consignment shops to find your retro treasure. Turquoise, corals, and neutrals with texture are great colors to incorporate to achieve the Mod Men trend as well. Continue reading

Is anyone else out there completely in love with Mad Men? Although the series hasn't lasted long it's impact on fashion and pop culture has been substantial. Now that influence is bleeding over into home interiors and I'm calling the trend Mod Men. The color palettes, fabric patterns and sleek furniture styles that grace the sets of the award winning show are gaining momentum with designers and retailers alike. Continue reading

Who is ready for summer?! I have been struggling through this long, gray, depressing spring. I am so thankful to see bits of sunshine and feeling some warmer temperatures. Along with those little glimmers of happiness comes inspiration for some brighter and carefree living. Although I am thousands of miles from any ocean here in the midwest I still love to incorporate elements of the sea to freshen up my home for the summer. Continue reading

Spring is here after what seemed to be an impossibly long winter. Birds are singing, rabbits are appearing, and lovely flowers are emerging from the cold ground. I absolutely adore spring flowers, the petite blooms of crocus and grape hyacinths, the cheerful colors of daffodils and tulips, and the heady fragrance of hyacinths. This time of year often inspires us to make changes in our lives and homes that reflects the cheerfulness of the outdoors. Continue reading
