More Fall Decorating... at "R" House
I love decorating with "JUNK" all year round, but fall, rusty metal, and primitive wood just seem to go hand in hand. Red is not my normal go to color in clothes or when decorating our home, but I do enjoy using barn red in the fall. I like the... Continue reading

Fall... It's Coming To "R" Home
Labor Day weekend is behind us, the kids are back to school, and the fall festivities have begun. Have you started your fall decorating? Fall decorating is one of my favorite seasons to decorate our home. The anticipation of campfires, snuggling under cozy blankets while the cool night air streams... Continue reading

Glensheen, The Congdon Mansion-Part 2... My Favorites
Here's a small sampling of my favorites during our visit to the Congdon Mansion in Duluth, Minnesota. This beautiful entrance leads to the breakfast room, which is high on my list of favorites at the mansion. The sun streams in through these glorious leaded glass windows that enclose three sides... Glensheen...The Congdon Mansion in Duluth Minnesota, Part 1
During our recent trip to the Northshore, Bethany was excited to tour the Congdon Mansion. The guys opted out and took in the train museum instead. Our self-guided tour began in the Carriage House, and the architecture had us at hello. These large sliding doors had us drooling. I think... Continue reading

Deep Down Cleaning & Lemon Oil
I've been tackling some long over due deep down cleaning in our home. A few weeks ago I finally conquered our master closet. I felt so accomplished when it was complete and looking all neat and organized. The best part was I had filled two very large garbage bags to... Continue reading

Too funny... I was just taking pics this morning for a blog post and decided it was time for an SLR. Then I read your post, great minds think alike. I'm still on the hunt for a black portable typewriter for our office. The thrill of the hunt! So glad you got your SLR, can't wait to hear how you like it, I'm jealous. Office flooring first, then an SLR is next on my list.
Cameras: Some Things Old, Something New
I went to National Camera's annual tent sale last week in search of an SLR camera. I've blogged for 6 years now with a point and shoot Canon, and it's served me well, but the beautifully, clear images I'm seeing all over the internet made this vintage-paced lady decide I can't put the learning...
A Few Days Away... the Northshore
A few days away with no schedules to keep and some quality time for our family, just what we needed before Jonathan headed back to college and Bethany full speed ahead into soccer season. The joy of the journey is the car ride, our vehicle was stocked with all the... Continue reading

A Mother's Heart
On my heart today... the hearts of many moms I know. They are all in the midst of sending a son or daughter onto the next step in their growth to adulthood. There are many seasons of motherhood, from the day your first child is born, until the day of... Continue reading

Home Office Renovation... the early stages
Our home office is in great need of renovation. It was on my list of home projects, but not at the top... until I found this work bench. A few weeks ago while I was sitting with my laptop I came across this work bench on Craigslist. It was fate,... Continue reading

Love the beautiful architecture.
Majestic Hotel and Chicago Street Beauty
When we finally found our hotel, at the end of a long day of Chicago college visiting, we were pleasantly surprised that it was not just another hum-drum, modern high rise. We threw this trip together rather quickly, and I was honestly just happy to be able to book a room in downtown Chicago. ...

Making Room For What Matters Most
We can actually see the carpet and easily walk around the storage room. Previously you had to have your flamingo legs on to high step and navigate all the obstacles on the floor. This isn't going to be a pretty decorating or inspirational blog post today, it's one of those "life as it happens"....
I do love having a storage room. Now that it's organized, it makes me smile. I'm enjoying the little things this summer, family time, neighbors, our yard and just more relaxed in general. :)

M & M Cookies... a family fave
My family loves M & M cookies, it's one of the first questions from my niece and nephew when we arrive at their cabin. "Did you make M & M cookies?" I found the recipe in the church cookbook from my home church growing up. Church cookbooks are my favorite... Continue reading

When your days don't go as planned...
We all live by a weekly/monthly calendar of schedules, events and to do lists. Nothing that has happened lately has been on my calendar. A small water stain appeared in the ceiling of our basement... so a gorgeous Saturday is spent inside with my husband, measuring and cutting holes on... Continue reading

I've always loved that enamel top table too, so adorable!
Vintage Kitchen Tables at the Cabin
There are a couple great vintage kitchen tables at the cabin that have probably been there since my Dad and Grandpa built it. I first gave them my personal touch back in college in the late 80's, when country stenciling was all the rage. My mom wrote in the cabin journal how I'd been painting ...
Celebrate our Independence
The fourth of July is such an important holiday in the history of our country, the day to celebrate our independence and freedom. We all look forward to the fourth to celebrate with family and friends, parades, picnics or an entire weekend away. Take a moment today to reflect on... Continue reading

Lanterns... not just for candles
I've added lanterns to my list of decorating staples. I love the warm cozy glow they give to a dark corner or nook in the fall and winter months in our home. I place a battery operated candle (with the timer feature) and every evening the candles set the mood... Continue reading

Next year it's another grad party! Life is busy!
The Month of May: Always a Blur!
Getting to Memorial Day weekend feels like an accomplishment. The month of May is chocked full of end of the year concerts, recitals, tournaments, class parties, etc. etc. Plus the beginning of the year yardwork, getting the garden started, and filling those pots with pretty flowers. As I look...
The Last Few Months... It's been a Blurrrr
I told my husband earlier this year to fasten his seat belt, because this spring was going to be a wild ride. A ride it has been! Finishing pieces for the store knowing the last Occasional Sale was quickly approaching and we wanted to clear as much out of our... Continue reading

Where to Begin... that was my question this morning???
This is one of those "life as it happens" posts. I'm feeling a little over whelmed this morning, where to begin is the question to ponder? The college kid came home this weekend with all his STUFF! Crates, bins, hampers, garbage cans electronics, sports equipment and enough laundry to keep... Continue reading

Yes Amy, we are closing. Our last Occasional Sale is next week, May 5 -8. We are ready for a new adventure that is less stress on our bodies and doesn't consume our homes. Looking forward to getting some of our own home projects done that have been on the back burner. It's been a great business to raise our kids and work from home most days. Now our kids are in college and high school, they just need cars and money.
Projects in The Works For Our Last Occasional Sale... May 2016
