Día de la Cultura Española Viernes 21 de octubre deel año 2016 Spanish Culture Day Friday 21st October 2016 Next Friday the whole school will be celebrating 'Spanish Culture'. We would like every child to participate by dressing in a Spanish theme outfit or by wearing the colours of the Spanish flag...Red & Yellow. We'll be starting the day by flying off to any of the 21 Hispanic counties and then on to sample an all Spanish menu in the dinner hall. We have a full fun day of activities planned... Maths Calculation Drop In Sessions Parent Views September & October 2016 102 parents and carers attended the sessions over the 2 days from classes across the school (Y1 – Y6). 100 % of parents found the drop in session useful. 100% of parents would come again to a similar session. Would you like to know how we teach your child how to add, subtract, multiply and divide? On Friday 30th September and Friday 7th October, we're inviting all parents and carers to come into school and join in a maths Calculation lesson. The lessons will take place from 9 - 10am, with an introduction at 8.50am in the school hall. We teach calculations every Friday across the school and because of the curriculum changes over the past few years we'd like to show some of the methods we teach your children. Dear Parents and Carers, Our trip to London is just a couple of days away and we are very excited for our trip. This is going to be a fantastic experience and a great end to Year 6. We are writing to confirm the teacher your child will be having for the forthcoming academic year. Mrs Gooding will continue in Reception. Miss Maughan will teach in Y1, Miss Cummins will move into Y2 and Mrs Whalen will teach in Y3 until Miss Charnocks return. Miss Thomas will teach in Y4 until Miss McCall returns. Mr Hoyle will continue as the Y5 teacher and Mr Barnes will stay in Y6. Your child will be meeting their new teacher on the 28th June when we have our annual 'move-up' day. Continue reading

Today we welcomed Nadiya Hussain, the 2015 Great British Bake Off Champion, to Parkfield. Nadiya came today because we had won Rochdale Council's competition where we had to get as many people as possible to 'pledge' to recycle. We came 1st out of all Rochdale schools - with over 1,400 pledges. The day started with a special assembly where Nadiya presented awards to the top 10 'pledgers' from Rochdale schools. Children from Reception to Year 6 from schools across the borough had their opportunity to meet, greet and have a photo with Nadiya. We were also presented with a cheque... Continue reading

Congratulations to the rounders team that played in the St. Anne's tournament tonight. Parkfield competed incredibly well in all the games they played and ended up in 2nd place overall. The lost 11-8 in the final to Middleton Parish in a close game. All players did brilliantly and showed great promise for the remainder of the rounders season. Continue reading

One of our fantastic Y4 children, Millie, is raising money for the 'Little Princess Trust'. The trust provides real hair wigs to children with cancer. Millie is going to be donating some of her hair! Well done to the Parkfield Netball team who competed in tonight's tournament at St. Anne's. They played against three other schools on the night. Although they finished fourth in the competition, they played some great netball and were incredibly unlucky at times. Well done girls. Continue reading

Congratulations to the 10 children that competed in tonight's competition at St. Mary's. Parkfield played a total of 3 games - losing one and drawing the other two. All players played incredibly well - especially as it was the first time some of them had played a competitive game against another school. This was a small tournament that gives the team a taste of things to come when they move up to the next school year! Well done everyone involved. Continue reading

We have some exciting news for you. This summer we are going to be holding our first ever 'Spelling Bee' at the school. This will be a competition to find the best spellers across the school. All children will be invited to join the competition but we understand that not all will want to participate. There will be a Y1/2, Y3/4 and Y5/6 competition. Children that compete will be tested on the words expected for their year group. Congratulations to the Y5 rugby team who played against 8 other teams tonight in a tournament at St. Mary's. Altogether they played 7 games, winning 4 and losing three. Overall they came in 3rd place and ended up with bronze medals. It's great rehearsal for next year's competition where they will be competing against all the schools in Middleton.
