It's a Gene Vincent kind of Sunday, while we work at a rhythmic pace that has finally found a beat in our home. With a list from here to Montana of things all important needing to be done, it can be pretty overwelming at times. Project Kitchen has been bumped... Continue reading

In one month, we've expanded our family from two and a half, to now four solid adults, one toddler and ten dogs. Without this "army of Martins", our journey from there to here wouldnt be possible. We have miraculuously remedied a pool from black to crystal blue, mended fences that... Continue reading

If the rain will fall and the grass will rise, Lord knows the beauty of that this land will become. Today, we closed on the farm, and less than thirty days away from stepping on this property and planting our love and dreams in it's soil. Continue reading

i really appreciate this post. my daughter is almost two now and I nurse her. since she's my first, i have no idea how long she'll want to nurse. i think i considered a cut off age in my mind at one point, but it just doesnt make sense anymore. When I saw Babies the movie, it was my first time seeing a child suckle just for comfort as he was trying to learn to walk. That scene really stuck with me in realizing that it's not always about milk and with a toddler(or at least mine) its rarely about milk...just comfort. i've had people tell me "you know, when they can ask for it...thats the time to stop". THATS INSANE! When they can ask for it, it IS the time to keep doing it! It's my child communicating on a simple and easily accomodated request! But I agree that it's not always the time to nurse right then - just like we cant always eat strawberries or go to the park! I've learned to just say "not right this second baby, later" and it's no big deal!
