The Drunk Vegans comprehensive guide to social media posts. 2016 has been a pretty fucking depressing year. Misogyny, racism, homophobia, and hatred are finding a common societal acceptance not seen in decades. And, it seems every week you hear the news of another celebrity death. Or another three celebrity deaths.... Continue reading

I wish you luck with your wine. You can, of course, drink it after about 2 weeks. It will have fermented in that time. But, I wouldn't call it wine. More of a hooch. lol. It's only wine after it ages. And, the active yeast in unaged wine might give you a bellyache.

I really haven't been posting at all lately. I apologize. But I HAVE to share this new study with all the drunk vegans of the world: Meat, dairy may be as detrimental to your health as smoking cigarettes, study says Stay classy, vegans. Continue reading

Happy pie season! I think I’ve had this rant before.... Yep. Pie day, formerly known as dead obese bird day, is fast approaching. Which means it is also “what do you eat on Thanksgiving?” argumentative accusation season. Because, everybody knows that if you abstain from turkey you will just RUIN... Continue reading

This post has nothing to do with veganism or cooking. If you're looking for for food porn, scroll down to an older post. I apologize for the inconvenience and promise that next time I will talk about food soaked in booze of some kind. Apart from being a drunk vegan... Continue reading

I very rarely say anything about the specific diet a person chooses to follow. I follow a plant-based diet, but I don't suggest that choice is right for everyone. It has proven to be the right choice for me. But, I made the decision to eat a plant-based diet after... Continue reading

Is your driveway purple? The bottoms of your feet? Are there purple bird-splotches on your car? It's mulberry season! Really, I hate mulberry trees. They sprout up all over my damn yard like stainless-steel weeds and choke out my vegetable garden. I can't get rid of them. But, this little... Continue reading

My brother and his wife have wild grapes growing all over their back yard. SO... somebody needs to eat those things before they take over and strangle someone. I volunteered to make dolmas. Stuffed Grape Leaves, i.e. DOLMAS! First, you need to cook a bunch of rice. I made two... Continue reading

Everything is blooming! I love it. This is normally the post where I would be making my springtime batch of dandelion wine. But, I got lazy this year; Too lazy to spend hours picking dandelion petals off of the flowers until I have enough to fill a one gallon crock...... Continue reading

So I haven't been blogging much lately. Big surprise. The weather has been really off-and-on weird so I haven't been able to do much gardening or foraging. In fact I should really get out there NOW and pull the sheets off my pepper plants because the frost is melted now.... Continue reading

It is finally SPRING! I am so happy. We had a surprise-blizzard on the first day of spring in Ohio… but this past weekend it was finally warm enough to go outside and smell daffodils and play in the mud. And, I was able to bribe people to help dig... Continue reading

New St. Patrick's day tradition: stay home and bake something. I had to work today anyway, and I saw enough drunk people stumbling around in green t-shirts and Mardi-gras beads to turn me off of ever leaving the house again. Not that there's anything wrong with stumbling around drunk in... Continue reading

I have been tidying up the website, fixing broken links, and organizing shit. Because library ladies have an OCD need to sort all the STUFF. If you are looking for old posts about a specific topic, here is the place to do it! Information about Veganism What do you eat?... Continue reading

I love this weather; Cool enough to put on a fuzzy bathrobe and snuggle-up around a bowl of soup. Cream of Potato Soup 4 or 5 medium sized potatoes 1 carrot 1/2 small onion 1 clove garlic, peeled but left whole 1 1/2 cups cooked white beans (garbanzo, navy, great... Continue reading

In spite of the drought that we are all experiencing pretty much, well, everywhere, my garden is now producing far more food than I can eat. Even more than my family and friends are willing to eat... And I don't even grow zucchini! So, every weekend I have been spending... Continue reading

I love any holiday that includes good food, good beer, awesome friends and family, and ginormous explosions. Not necessarily in that order. I think we may have outdone ourselves this year. My local fireworks were almost this epic. Almost: AND. I made the stupidest veganization of a nonvegan food ever:... Continue reading

"Toad, that under cold stone, Days and nights has thirty-one; Swelter'd venom sleeping got, Boil thou first i' the charmed pot! Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble" Yep. I'm making wine. All sorts of weird stuff is bubbling away on my kitchen counter. At least one... Continue reading

So. June 1st came, with kids celebrating the last day of school and pools opening and barbecues commencing, and it was a bloody freezing 52 degrees out. Last weekend it was in the 90s. My poor little drunk vegan brain can’t handle it. So, as I always do when I... Continue reading

We are having crazy weird weather lately. It's always beautiful and sunny and warm on the days that I have to work late. So of course when I get a day off, it's cold and raining and sporting monsoon-like winds. No gardening today; I'm stuck inside. I spent the day... Continue reading

It's finally getting warm-ish out. And despite the crazy thunderstorms and 50 mph wind we had this weekend, I was able to get outside and play in my vegetable garden a little bit. Check out my baby hop vines, already taking over the back porch: Yeah! That's exciting stuff. Eight... Continue reading

Happy day-after St. Patrick's Day, otherwise known as the day when many Americans wake up in a puddle of green sludge after a night of making asses of themselves belittling other cultures. I find myself having the same argument every year: "So, Drunk Vegan, you must be drinking lots of... Continue reading

This is not really a recipe. I’m not anti-recipe, but I honestly don’t use them most of the time. I cook using whatever I have on the shelf at the time. So, here is the Drunk Vegan guide to making a loaf of bread using whatever YOU want to throw... Continue reading

Ok. I gave you a voyeuristic look at what I eat for 21 days. That's enough. I want to get back to blogging about homebrew and booze-infused cookies, now. The reason I went for 21 days is because the Physician's Committee for responsible Medicine has a great program called the... Continue reading

I'm not sure that I want to admit what was in this: It's a baked macaroni experiment with sweet potatoes and lots of nooch as a base for the cheezy sauce. It was pretty good. Maybe a little too sweet and a little too orange. There are about a million... Continue reading
