For those of us in Oklahoma, we enjoyed an amazing and enviable Saturday today, no? Upper 70's, gorgeous sunshine, light breeze.....oh how we soaked it all up today, just letting that vitamin D invigorate our souls and bring us out of our winter hibernation! The kids were outside and jumping... Continue reading

It feels strange to combine this link in with the other 'few favorites' compilations, because it also doesn't necessarily have a happy ending. But I do want to share because it's always been important to me to share these stories, knowing just how hard and heartbreaking it is to actually... Continue reading

What an inspiring message, and after this long week cooped up at home with the kids and having very frazzled nerves because of it, I definitely needed to read this (and probably will be reading it more than once).

My husband and I on a trip to San Francisco in August 2008....pure and complete relaxation and bliss. This week has been a good week for reflection and meditation - or at least hopeful meditation, as my hyperactive kiddos haven't given me the opportunity for full-blown meditation. So as we've... Oh girl, I'm SO sorry about frozen pipes and freezing bathrooms! That would probably leave me reaching for the wine or locking myself in my bedroom to sob. We did have a bout of frozen pipes on Wednesday morning, but were lucky that we were able to use a hair dryer to get them unthawed rather quickly. This week has been especially trying for us as well, I think mostly due to the fact that I've been attempting to do work from home and it's just not that possible with three rambunctious and stir crazy kids in the house. So I'm really trying to take that pressure to have a productive 'work week' and enjoy the time with the family, no matter how frustrating they can be at times (especially the middle one - he really knows how to push the ol' buttons). Now, I"m not, by any means, saying I'm doing well at it! But I'm trying..... I like your creative ideas and am going to steal an idea or two and sit the boys down to paint and make some clay figures. Hopefully they'll stay interested, as my house is definitely seeing the destructiveness of two very hyper little boys...... Here's to (hopefully) warmer weather next week and a much welcome return to routine! Xoxo!

photo by al camardella What do they all have in common, besides all starting with 'b'? There sorta all on my mind tonight, and so I thought the title was fitting. Nothing too exciting, I know, but that's the best I could come up with tonight. Humor me. Babies. My... Continue reading

First off, I absolutely adore the picture of your girls at the top, could they be any more adorable! Secondly, I think I gasped out loud a little bit after reading your conversation with Dacey - but like others have said, you handled it beautifully and with so much grace, although I'm sure it was a different story on the insides (I know my heart would have been racing and my stomach feeling a little sick). After reading it again and thinking about my own childhood, I can remember similar games of doctor and nurse with neighbor friends and all the curiosity starting to kick in. I so agree with the 'normal but not appropriate' stance, because the whole 'sex game' would honestly scare the crap out of me - and I would definitely want to know if my daughter was instigating or participating in this type of behavior. Thank you for the reminder that we're at the starting point of the end of innocence :(

Thanks Megan!! Okay, so after hearing that from a few people I got sort of paranoid that it wasn't the real thing - I mean, what do I know about all things dairy? But I did some research on the farm and it appears that it's legit. I think the main thing that may turn some people off is it isn't certified organic - which could be the reason for the lower price. But I can't complain, we LOVE it and will definitely be going back for more :) I'm so sorry that your local dairy closed! Have you found a new one to go to? And thank you for the feedback on the links, I think it will definitely be a keeper. I just added a few more on a new post because I had left them out accidentally yesterday :)

Great post from the husband's perspective :) We are also in the process of decluttering and learning how to live simply, not from a religious perspective (I'm probably the one reader that isn't 'into' the christian scene) but as a quest to enjoy what we have and not feel like we 'need' to continue to let consumerism control us and our kids. This past weekend was the kids' rooms; next weekend, our room (scary!).

Oh good, because really, I have been thinking that there is something seriously wrong with me - that I'm entirely too emotional and nostolgic. I've been finding it happens the most when I'm driving in the car and it's sorta quiet, the kids are at school/daycare and those memories and moments come flooding back. Thanks for your input mama, and helping me to feel kinda normal :)
LOVE this! And I'm so with you! Can't wait to get a peek at the cards when they're ready and I'm positive we will be printing them out and having the kids give them to their friends. Thank you for sharing this project and the work of LOVE146!

Beautiful, I love it (and I cringed a little for you when you said the pottery was gone...). Intentional simplicity is what I strive for, and something we're trying to implement ourselves.

Wow, I'm so glad you posted this because I have felt somewhat overwhelmed by the wealth of information and 'advice' out there on parenting! One of my goals that I want to focus on this year is to be a more effective parent, and I really believe from your description that this ebook will point me in the right direction with practical advice and tips! Challenges - well, my boys are 3 and 6, so challenging is the name of the game right now. Both have very different personalities and therefore different learning/disciplinary styles, and I often feel like I'm constantly on the offensive trying to put out fires vs actual constructive discipline. Logan, my 6 year old, is very sensitive and also very defiant, so it's a thin line that I'm always having to walk to discipline without overly hurting his feelings. Colin, on the other hand, is very strong willed and stubborn and at 3 is constantly pushing the limits to see how far he can go before the you-know-what hits the fan..... I'm looking forward to downloading Amanda's book and getting started on a more effective way to parent!

Mandy, that is so sweet, what a peaceful birth you had with Braden (and a good thing too, seems that Kayla and Maeli's were so chaotic!!)! It's funny, because Logan's mouth was really memorable to me, too, when he was first born - they reminded me so much of John's and I thought it was so incredible :) And so not silly at all!! Thank you for sharing!
