I am thrilled that you are doing something with this quote next year. I have it posted on my wall at work, where they already think I am crazy for taking off the same time each year for the Houston show!
2016 and a TRUE CONFESSION
So, it's time to come clean. This picture you see at the top of the blog is a little bit of a fib (don't you just love the word fib). My quilt is only designed and photoshopped, it's not actually finished. It really looks like this. And my work table looks like this. The truth of the matte...
I admire you putting your intentions out there for all to see!
Now find the helpers to get to your goal and keep making new goals!
We are all PHD's!
2013...the BIG shift
One of my secret goals for 2013 was to lose weight and get in better shape. I didn’t write about it because I have tried and failed at this goal way more times than I want to tell you about. This year was different though, I’ve actually lost 24 pounds and am now a regular exerciser. I’m still ...
It was all that swooning you did yesterday??? Just too much to handle sometimes. Or maybe you need to swoon more??
Feel better.
I'm not sure if it was something I ate...
Hello everyone. I am going to have to delay Pieced Block 1 until next week becuase I am sitting here sick today. So sorry....
It is not a problem. It is a design opportunity!
Those little tiles make your bath "custom" if you were to sell it!
Creative People Inspire Me
A couple of weeks ago I found Lindsay Ostrom’s blog and ended up swept away by her super creative musings and projects. I own almost every one of her books on creative lettering and have been a big fan of her for years. Well, it turns out she has another book for sale in her Etsy shop and I just...
MMMMMMMMM.
My favorite.

Picture Added
Design Wall Picture added below...apparently I have not had enough coffee this morning.
How did she store them to have them so pristine? No discoloration and the colors still so vibrant! Treasures for sure.
Lucky girl.
What a Thank You Gift !!!!!
About a week ago the mail lady knocked on my door and handed me a really special package. I was really intrigued since I hadn’t ordered a thing (my husband would be shocked by that comment). When I opened it I have to say I was truly stunned. It turns out the Miss Kyra’s (of the Miss Kyra qu...
What about a couple of bias stripes following the curve of the scallops.
Perhaps a green inner and the floral multi on the outer stripe? The green would break into the quilt, but the multi could be continuous.
Design Wall Monday
Remember this? I started this quilt last year and got all the way to the scalloped border and then I just had to take a break. I couldn’t really figure out what to do with all that white. Don’t get me wrong, I love white, but it was just a tad more white than I really wanted. I think I have ...
Tom Selleck, Ted Nugent, Richard Childress.
Cause we need eye candy, thought provoking, and just plain fun.
BIGGER Perfect Circles GIVE-AWAY !!!!
As you all know, I think Karen Kay Buckley is brilliant. If you are making Miss Kyra you will really want to buy a set of her Bigger Perfect Circles. It makes appliqueing the centers on the Dresden Plates super easy. To entice you further I have a set of these to give away today. To enter ju...
Love, love, love my Periwinkle and white bathroom. Would love to find fabric that exact color. Good luck to you!
In search of Periwinkle
I do not know why I do this to myself, I really don’t. I almost always choose some really difficult to find color when I am starting a new project. For Mimi’s Bloomers it’s that periwinkle blue that’s in the center of Miss Mimi. How was I supposed to know that periwinkle is not the “in” colo...
Sorry - that should have been Follow That Thread - too early in the morning!

Aurifil Thread Sources
So, remember how it is when you’ve been sick and you start to feel better and you get so excited that you feel better that you think you are actually Wonder Woman? BUT…you’re NOT…well that’s me. I felt so much better yesterday that I did a whole lot of stuff. How do I feel today…well not so ...
Love That Thread also has Aurifil in size 12!
I can use it instead of 2 strands of embroidery floss. And great customer service. If I order one that I already have, she lets me know before sending it.
Thanks for the list of others, but it would be hard to beat LTT.

You can also use your large ruler - 12 X 12 or whatever size you have if it is dark out.
Thanks for the new BOM.

Poor Man’s Light Box
I have a light box that I absolutely love, but sometimes I am not in the mood to haul it out. Especially for something simple. So here’s what I do instead. Take your pattern. Find a sunny window and flip it over and trace the lines on the back side. Ta Da..now you have your full size...
Clover makes a great needle cassette. It has a long threader wire on it where you can put about 10-12 needles and you pop it back together. Then you just put your thread through the hole in the cassette and pull the needle off - threaded, with more waiting to go!
What Will They Think of Next GIVE-AWAY
I have got to hand it to Clover. They make the most amazing notions. Things that you had no idea you even needed but once you try you cannot live without. Things like needle automatic needle threaders and such. Here is my latest find. Here’s a true confession….I had never until last week mad...
Your aunt is very pretty!
Dream vacation - a week at Asilomar with Sandra Leichner.
Miss Betty Give-Away
So, here's the story on Miss Betty. Miss Betty is my Aunt Betty (aka the Easter Bunny). Once I decided on the fabric for this quilt I just knew I needed to name it for her because she loves this color scheme. Here's a picture of my Aunt back during WWII. A family member had a photography stu...
Sometimes you need a "processing day", down time, regroup time! And as for that boy of yours - well, young man now - no one has come to you and said MODEL yet? I bet he could sell ice cream to the north pole.
Congrats on a me day - not cranky.
One of Those Days
Actually, its been one of THOSE weekends. Too much going on. Too many needs to meet. Feeling pulled in too many directions and not really being "in the moment" enough to do any of them well. I guess April is one of those overwhelmed months anyway in my schedule but I just can't seem to conquer i...
Did you backbaste the circles?? Those are pretty darn good circles if you did!
You forgot to mention that you actually get 10 of each pattern because she has already REVERSED them for you for backbasting!
Love the book. I want rain for spring - pollen is all over everything - we have yellow cars, whether you purchased it that way or not.
Inspired By Tradition Book- A- Round
Welcome to my little stop on the Book-A-Round for Kay Mackenzie’s new book Inspired By Tradition from That Patchwork Place. I’ve had my copy for a few weeks now and I have to say this is a real beauty of a book. Not only does it have 50 patterns in FIVE sizes each but there are some absol...
Maybe this should be in your Etsy shop??

Funky Setting Part Two
I’m just loving this little quilt. It’s kind of reminding me of chocolate petit fours. Now that you have your border fabric stitched onto the front of your quilt block you will be able to see the outline of the border on the front of the border fabric. It’s a little hard to see in this pictu...
Love the setting. Great tutorial too.
Funky Setting Anyone?
I had a bunch of fun coming up with this way of doing a funky appliqué setting. Here’s how I did it. To draw the outline of the border I used a 24” x 24” piece of vellum. Vellum is very useful for this kind of thing because it’s durable and translucent. Before you start designing your border...
I like having more daylight in the afternoon, but dang it gets hot at the same time. Ambrosia will keep me happily inside under the fan and a/c.
Ambrosia GIVE-AWAY
Happy Friday Everybody! Today I'm giving away my newest pattern Ambrosia. To enter leave a comment tellling us if you are happy or sad about Daylight Savings Time starting this Sunday. I, personally, HATE losing an hour of sleep but like that it stays light later. If you have already ordered...
I think I spy that pink Lakehouse fabric - one of my favorites! (you must have bought as much of it as I did!) So much fun to see your designs from start to finish.
Thank you!
Design Wall/Table Monday
Happy Monday Quilting Friends. My design wall this Monday is actually a table. I have a couple of projects brewing here. The first is a block from Kay Mackenzie’s new book, Inspired By Tradition. She’s doing a Book-A-Round from March 22 to March 31. There will be a blog to visit every day and a ...
Relaxing is exactly the way I would describe applique, and therapy too. I get cranky if I don't get my "a" time. Maybe I am just cranky. I also enjoy the Aurifil thread, it is just right. Not slick and whispy.
Thanks for the block.
R is for RELAXING
When people ask me why I like to appliqué so much I usually tell them “because it’s relaxing”. If they are quilters they usually get it. Non crafty people usually look a little dismayed and take a few steps away from me. But IT’S TRUE! Applique is very relaxing…especially when you have a rea...
50 is good. You are old enough to know what reaaaaalllly matters to you, it has been very liberating - you can say no and mean it, and not feel bad about it. It is an "attitude".
First Ever Aurifil Blog Hop…and ..um..my last week in my 40’s
Big things are happening here in my little world. First, today is DAY 1 of the first EVER Aurifil Blog Hop. I want to thank Pat Sloan for asking me to be a part of this. Here’s the scoop: visit nine blogs and pick up 9 patterns(mine is pictured above) to make a lovely 9 block quilt. Leave c...
You are really gonna wish you treated those knees better someday! Love the Sunkissed line of fabs - don't know yet what I am going to do with them, yet. We are just petting them right now.
Thanks.
Sweet 16
I thought I was pretty clever when I came up with the title of this post. We are the 16th designer on the Moda Pillow Talk blog hop, it is the 16th and we are Sweetwater- so it made sense to me! For those of you who are new, Sweetwater is actually 3 people. My mom, Karla; sister, Susan and me,...
Love the designs - and glad I caught the downloads before you removed them! I know I will have all your patterns before long. Thanks so much.
