this picture is proof that my baby will be a toddler in a few short weeks. this realization hit me hard today, but i can't say i'm upset about it. i am so excited for everything her second year has in store for us. she is talking and mimicking our... Continue reading

the food world has been abuzz lately with a new policy put in place by mike vuick, the owner of mcdain's casual dining restaurant in monroeville, pennsylvania. that policy? no children under the age of 6 allowed. ever. under any circumstances. as a parent of a young child and a... Continue reading

Thanks, everyone! She seems to be feeling much better. Her rash is finally starting to disappear! Today was the first day that it wasn't worse when she woke up.

after promising to be a better blogger, i let this space stay stagnant for over a week again. sylvie has been sick this week. really sick. she whined and screamed all day and barely slept all night for 5 days in a row. after a few days of general malaise,... Continue reading

Mom-I hope so! That's what I'm aiming for! Emily-I love you too. I miss you so very much and am counting down the days until your wedding! Allie-We love you 3 too! At least I'll be heading there sometime in September! I wish we lived closer too. I know Paige is already promised to Henry, but I'd like to place Sylvie second in line!

Thanks. Just because it was a typical, leisurely day doesn't make it any less special! I want her to know that she makes everyday worth noting.

Elle and Randalin-You ladies are 2 of my very favorite bloggers. You always (excuse the lameness) keep it real. For real. I agree with everything you both said in these comments in regard to small vs popular blogs.

dear sylvie, today you are 11 months old. one month shy of a year. our day was uneventful and leisurely. i love days like this. you woke up just after 8 this morning, ready to face the day after a full night's sleep. your daddy fed you a banana for... Continue reading

so much has happened since we moved here a month ago. travis is loving his job and is finally out of the training portion. 3 weeks at minimum wage was tough on our little family, but we made it through just fine. sylvie will be 11 months old in three... Continue reading

Kim-I sooo want you to be there! Cara-Of course you get one!!! Email/text me with your new address please and thanks! Julia and Koko-Aw! This is why I love blogging. I love imagining you in labor, eagerly awaiting your own little one, while reading about mine. These are special moments! Thank you for your sweet comment and happy almost birthday to your little one!
Emily-Thanks and yes I did get your email. I'm so sorry for not writing you back yet. I'm a booger. Nitzalie-Thanks! I saw the pictures of the party. Everything looked beautiful. I especially loved her smash cake! Deanna-I can't believe it either! Thanks. I'm hoping it all turns out. Michelle-Thank you so much. Time is flying on by, but I don't mind. This is the most fun age yet!
dear travis, i think the media often portrays fathers as blithering idiots, incapable of doing anything and scared of their own children. you prove all of these stereotypes wrong. you are capable, kind, and patient with sylvie. you don't dread time alone with her, you relish in it. the way... Danielle-Thanks! I love the color. It is not neon like it appears in the picture. It's much softer and calmer than that. Emily-I love it down here so far! Please come down to Texas! Hilary-You're welcome. Thank you. So looks so squishy in that picture. I love it!

Thanks Teresa! The scarf thing is pretty simple. Fold a square scarf in half so it becomes a triangle. Roll it into a band and place the center of it at the back of your head. Knot it on top of your head two or three times until the knot is the size you'd like. Tuck in the loose ends. That's it! Super cute and simple.

Danielle-I hope you never have to go through that kind of storm either! It's scary! I am thanking my lucky stars and God on both counts. Deanna-I can't even imagine how scary that must have been. I'm so happy you and your family stayed safe through that. I certainly puts a lot in perspective.

our little town got a beating from last night's severe storms. our tornado sirens sounded 5 times in 5 hours last night. the first 4 produced nothing more than a breeze and some heavy rain. the 5th siren was another story. it sounded at 10:10 last night. all was quiet.... Continue reading

Kristin-Thank you! We think she's pretty cute, too. ;) I'm so excited to get down to Texas. I've spent a fair amount of time in Houston and it just feels so right to be there. I've never been Austin, but we have some family there so I'm hoping to go soon. Thanks for all the well wishes.
