Deaf Diary: It Bounces
Shortly after my first son was born, my toddler nephew was over and fell down the stairs. Our next door neighbor was an EMT and we called him over immediately. He checked out my nephew, said he was fine and joked that "kids bounce." Ten years later, I still love... Continue reading

Deaf Diary: Who Pressed the Mute Button?
Because my daughter is hard of hearing, the tv is usually on pretty loud. When one of the kids accidentally presses the mute button, the lack of sound is almost uncomfortable. It feels empty. Is that how L felt the day she lost all her hearing? When she couldn't hear... Continue reading

Deaf Diary: The History
If you have been following my blog, you have probably noticed that my daughter L does not look much like her brothers. That's because we adopted her from China when she was one. Around L's second birthday, we found out she was hard of hearing and later found out the... Continue reading

We just had our Blue and Gold Banquet this weekend and my job was providing a game for the scouts and their families. A couple weeks prior I found these Bingo games in the clearance section of Target. There were three boxes left and I bought them all, giving me... Continue reading

8th Birthday Oreo Class Treat
My middle child "J" just turned 8 and I wanted to come up with a fun snack to bring into his class to celebrate. There are nut allergies in the classroom and I didn't want anyone to be left out. So these little dandies only require 2 ingredients: Oreos and... Continue reading

52 Weeks of Books: Week 4 - Our Abe Lincoln
Why do we sing the ABC's or 50 Nifty United States? It's because most people remember information presented in a song better than that which they've read or even heard spoken. My boys especially respond to music and when they were smaller I had a song for everything from bath... Continue reading

Source: joelens.blogspot.com via Becky on Pinterest That pic above looks pretty tasty doesn't it? It is not my photo. It comes from What's Cooking Chicago. I pinned it awhile back and finally had the chance to try it out. Even though it looks great, you can never be sure how... Continue reading

Tool For Teaching Cub Scout Promise and Law of the Pack
All you need is a piece of poster board and a Sharpie to make this simple teaching tool. I personally am a visual learner and like to create visual aids for the boys. Whether you have Tigers or Webelos or in-between, most scouts can use a gentle reminder for the... Continue reading

52 Weeks of Books: Week 3 - Love, Ruby Valentine
There are so many Valentine books out there but my favorite to read for this holiday is Love, Ruby Valentine by Laurie Friedman! I bet you can't guess what Ruby's favorite time of the year is! Yep, Valentine's Day. This is a sweet and silly story about a little girl... Continue reading

Ghost Poop Shooter Scout Activity
I did this with the Tigers in the Fall and it was such a blast! I called them ghost poop shooters because of the time of year and the fact that boys love all things gross. Be creative and come up with other names depending on when you're making them.... Continue reading

52 Weeks of Books: Week 2 - Lon PoPo
Since last week we celebrated Chinese New Year, I thought we would continue with the Chinese theme this week. I chose the Caldecott Award Winner Lon PoPo, a Chinese Red Riding Hood written and illustrated by Ed Young. PoPo is Chinese for grandmother. I can see why this won the... Continue reading

Manly Valentine: Black Bean Taco Dip and Sports Center
My husband and I rarely celebrate Valentines Day. I think it's more for those dating couples still trying to impress each other. But I suppose it doesn't hurt to show a little extra love every now and then. My hubby, however, wants nothing to do with all that sappy lovey... Continue reading

52 Weeks of Books: Week One - Chinese New Year

Hi Kristen
I got mine off the Home Decor which was the mini cartridge that came with my Cricut. There wasn't even a box. I know I have seen it on another cartridge though. Let me know if you want me to send out an email to my scrapping group. We share all of our cartridges and they may have it to tell me.

Blue and Gold Banquet Family Game
This is just a cut and paste from my Fakin It blog, before I started this one. This is a fun game we did for our Blue and Gold Dinner. I cut enough blue and gold fleur de lis for each family to get 24. As you can see I used my Cricut but you could just use a circle punch to keep it simple. I c...
