Hello Out-of-Town Wedding Guests, Just a little heads up about our wedding. First of all, there are many options for lodging. 1. You may stay at Nottaway Plantation, there should be a reduced rate of 10% for our guests, and it is fabulous. Here is the website. http://www.nottoway.com/ Tour and breakfast included, but for the price, it should be. 2. A closer option is the The Best Western in Plaquemine, LA. It is only five miles away from the wedding and reception on Highway 1 and definitely a less expensive option. Here is the website. http://bestwesternlouisiana.com/plaquemine-hotels/ there is a convenience store, a mom and pop bar, and a few other places of local interest located nearby. 3. If you would like to stay in Baton Rouge, on the other side of the river and where there is more civilization, there is the Hilton Hotel downtown. This is a great location because you are right by the Mississippi River Bridge for quick access to the wedding and reception. Also it is rumored Huey P. Long, the Governor from the Great State of Louisiana, had a secret underground passage way built from the hotel to the State Capitol Building. The hotel is also within walking distance of many Baton Rouge attractions, several restaurants, lots of nightlife and 5 minutes from LSU. http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/BTRCPHF-Hilton-Baton-Rouge-Capitol-Center-Louisiana/index.do Speaking of LSU be sure to go see Mike the Tiger. Yes, he is real and lives in a seven million dollar habitat, has a full time vet living on campus, and is taken better care of than me or you, or really even the President of the United States. Here is his web site. http://www.mikethetiger.com/ He swims in the morning after breakfast usually. Also there is a LSU baseball game the Saturday after the wedding It is at the NEW Alex Box Stadium. The Tigers will be playing Wake Forest. (You know they have the coach who gave his player a kidney http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/10/sports/baseball/10transplant.html ). So if you love baseball, you can get tickets since it is not an SEC game. We have won the National Championship in baseball 6 times in the last 20 years, so GEAUX TIGERS! www.lsusports.net If you are not into baseball, the next morning is the St. Patrick's Day parade. Here are the details. http://www.paradegroup.com/, it is early in the morning and people celebrate all day. BUT, if you are going to venture down to New Orleans, the Italian-American St. Joseph's Day parade will take place in the quarter at 6pm. http://goneworleans.about.com/od/festivals/a/stpatstjoe.htm, and you all know how much fun the Quarter can be! Also the Hornets and the Celtics play at the New Orleans Arena http://goneworleans.about.com/od/famouslandmarks/a/noarena.htm Two LSU alumni play for the Celtics, Shaquille O'Neal and Glen Davis. Marcus Thorton plays for the New Orleans Hornets, but he is not as well known. If any of you from out of town need a ride to the wedding, etc, let us know, I am sure we can arrange something. We are thrilled to have you celebrate our special day. Julie 225.xxx.3210 cell (redacted) David 225.302.8327 cell 225.xxx.3210 home (redacted)
