PETRICHOR
I've heard that smell is the sense most strongly connected to memory. This morning, I woke up to the sound of rain down-pouring and thunder rolling. I love the snow but at some point every winter I realize that it's been a long time since I've watched and listened to... Continue reading

100 THINGS THAT ARE JOYFUL
having every sock out of the dryer paired with a mate ice cream listening to the ocean non-cloudy non-overcast non-grey days finger painting impromptu dance parties the moment in hide-and-go-seek where you're caught sitting cross-legged on a dolly and being pushed across a wide open smooth space. bonus points for... MARCH FIFTEENTH
they're so foreboding, the ides of march. beware! booo hissss. and i'm not done with the ides of march yet; it's only 3:00pm. and, according to wikipedia, as caesar passed the soothsayer on his way to his death he laughed and said 'the ides of march have come!' and the... Continue reading

nevermind
Adele's Someone Like You has been on radio stations everywhere lately. As my shiny gold 1995 Buick Century includes neither a MP3 player hookup nor a CD player and there is nary a tape player in sight, I am left to the radio while driving around. Which. Is really not... Continue reading

oh snap - photo challenge oct 2011
{graphic by Jenn based on this pin originally found on Amy Tangerine} Ok. So I've seen this photography challenge around the web and around Pinterest and I have been wanting to try it out. Kerry and I were going to start it middle of last month, but didn't, and then October rolled around and ...

Jello vs Pudding
OH sometimes I feel like I am flailing about in a sea of jello. I don't even LIKE jello, so it makes it all the more un-enjoyable. I think the jello is just relative though. Because last year, I was far from jello. I was doing leisurely laps in chocolate... Continue reading

famous cartographer
i am the donut hole This was posted last spring by a coworker of mine. Another friend just recently asked about it. I had forgotten I was a famous cartographer. It's definitely not my best work, please don't judge my cartography skills on this one napkin. But it was exciting... Continue reading

preach it, girl
Tina Fey's book Bossypants is hysterical and embarassing to read on a train while commuting as you will find yourself shaking while holding in laughter and snorts. Or if you're like me, embarassing to read on a train while commuting as you will find yourself laughing and snorting out loud... Continue reading

laughter sounds the same in every language
This blog has been under (minor) construction when I have time to finagle with it. My goal is to write or share something once a day to try to get into a groove. Then maybe once I'm grooving, I can continue to design. Today I saw this video about balloons... Continue reading

I'm so hungry! Half-and-half is popular in the States (and I guess I assumed everywhere... but perhaps it's not!) It is simply half cream, half milk. A lot of people here use it in their coffee. You buy it from the store just as you would cream. I think people like it because it's creamier than milk (flavor-wise) but less fattening (I suppose) than just plain old cream. Your blog looks great, Emily!
Gwyneth Paltrow's Chicken & Dumplings
I am a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow. I honestly think she is all class. I get her Goop newsletter (fab) and I love watching her in movies. So I was excited to see she had a book out called “My Father’s Daughter”. Here is an interview by Jessica Seinfeld with her about this book. The ingredients l...
man overboard
Oh hey there, Blogland. Apparently, I decided that blogging was too tricky and took 5 weeks off. I'm back. Most of my time was being spent as a camp counselor/camp director of a boating camp. Last week I finished up the 8 week run of camp and realized that we... Continue reading

oh man. hopefully easier. i'm not sure how great at making lederhosen i would be.
let's start at the very beginning
Oh, Julie Andrews. You taught me how to begin to read and sing. Where were the tips about beginning a blog? I suppose you had more on your mind. I suppose you were busy uniting a family of seven unruly children while mimicing Scarlett O'Hara. I suppose with your spare time you were wooing thei...

Trying to Deal...
Just writing the title of this blog post sounds depressing. (I'm trying to pull myself out of this bad space so maybe writing it out will help) My boyfriend left to build a school in Ghana. He is kinda awesome like that. But, while he is off working with the African children and changing hund...

I know what you're thinking. "From Maria von Trapp to the miracle of life?! SLOW DOWN, LINDSAY, it's only your second post." I know, I know. But might I add, "SLOW DOWN, blog reader, with your thoughts and assumptions that this post will be super deep and emotional." All I'm... Continue reading
