This is Day 6 of my #100HappyDays Project. I decided to start posting the days to my blog. Jick and the dogs and I packed a picnic lunch and drove to the Santa Fe National Forest for a walk and a picnic along a mountain stream. Happy? You bet. Continue reading

Nikhedonia is a great old word I found while thumbing through one of Jick's word books. Nikhedonia is the joy or pleasure derived from anticipating and imagining good fortune or future success. Nikhedonia is from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory plus the Greek word, hedone, which means pleasure I... Continue reading

My Creativity Coach, Jill Allison Bryan, has inspired me yet again. She has created an easy, fun and inviting opportunity to connect with this year's summertime before it zizzes by. Jill's new creation is entitled Create the Summer of your Dreams Kit. Without Jill’s Create the Summer of Your Dreams,... Continue reading

I am sitting in Santa Fe with my morning cup of Irish Breakfast Tea. This morning I am sitting in our living room starting to do my morning pages of writing as encouraged by Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way and Natalie Goldberg in Writing Down the Bones. I would... Continue reading

Some time ago, a sweet friend gave me a carved wooden box as a gift. The only instructions were to write down what I truly wished for on a piece of paper, fold the paper into a tiny package, and place it in the box then wait for my wish... Continue reading

I often wonder what in the world my dreams are trying to tell me. Ever since returning from our travels through Italy and several adjacent countries, my dreams have been filled with experiences of traveling by boat, canoe, train, plane, and helicopter. There have been some wonderfully adventuresome dreams and... Continue reading

Greetings to you from somewhere off of the coast of Sicily, Italy. Circumnavigating Italy for 10 days, my husband and I are on a cruise ship sailing from Venice to Rome. Today we had arranged for a tour of Taormina, Sicily and then a lunch at a private villa where... Continue reading

I had planned to go to a week-long conference this week in Santa Fe on Creativity and Madness. It is a conference I have had an interest in attending for several years. However, when it came right down to spending hundreds of dollars to sit in a conference room every... Continue reading

Thank you for helping bring these gentle monks into our lives.
So glad they had meaning for you.
We recently had an amazing opportunity to open our lives to the universe by opening our home to visiting Tibetan Buddhist Monks. As I mentioned in my previous blog entry, I would love to share some of the photographs I had the chance to take during their visit. The first... Continue reading

A few weeks ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to open our lives to the universe by becoming a Bed and Breakfast for five days. Thanks goes to my husband for agreeing to go along with yet another of my “bright” ideas. It just so happened that a... Continue reading

I love the mental image of trying to take a sip out of a fire hose. That's got to hurt! The mindful walk with your dogs followed by a, Y-A-W-N, nap in the van sound just right. I love you, too, cuz. Best of luck with the remodel. p.s. I have a Canon 5D Mark III now. It certainly knows more than I do but it is fun having it as a new friend and teacher.
HI, Lucy. Glad to begin this Friday morning with you through the wonders of the Internet. You are right. Balance and Breathing are two biggies when it comes to a sense of well-being. How funny it is that stopping can actually help us get more done. I just love pleasant surprises like you and your insights. Thank you.

Hi, Jill. I think you are right. Part of the slowing down is to stop and just be. Even a moment of being and breathing can help with the pacing of things. Thanks!

It is official. My life has been way-laid for the past several weeks. I have heard myself describing life’s current pace as “scrambling” and “being sucked into a vortex”. Wow. How does that happen? During these churning times I find it much more difficult to discern what truly is important... Continue reading

Time on the beach sounds so wonderful. Ahhhhh. The waves. The eternal ebb and flow of the waves. It is not only the Place but the Intention of the Place that makes all the difference. Lightening our load is a worthy goal. One you continue to teach me. Emptying out, not just filling up, is part of our journey. Wishing you a safe and expanding trip.
Winter months in Santa Fe are wonderful. Actually any month in Santa Fe is wonderful as far as I can see. During our trip to Santa Fe this month we decided to play like we were snowed in for a day. I am so lucky to have a husband who... Continue reading

Thanks, Cuz. You are the best.
With a grateful heart, I am looking forward to the New Year. In 2012, I was able to begin to weave the notion of creativity into my everyday life and truly believe it has enriched my life. My “360” photography project in which I took a photograph every day with... Continue reading

The sunlight in Santa Fe has changed. It has changed a lot. The hues have changed from shades of gold to blues and grays. The angle is much lower than even a month ago. While noticing those changes a few days ago, I began to wonder how it would be... Continue reading

I had every intention for the topic of this blog to be "Creativity and Happiness.” That is before life stepped in and pointed me in what seemed like a totally different direction. I guess it really depends on how you look at life and how you define happiness. Life entered... Continue reading

Tracing the thread of creativity from one thought to the next can be an interesting study of the human mind and the creative process. As we all know, the creative process doesn’t always proceed as originally planned. I had an idea that began with the purchase of a 30-pound seashell... Continue reading
