You must download the OverDrive Media Console app in order to access ebooks. If other apps are able to install I would try resetting the device by powering off completely. Ensure that you have updated to OS2 for the app to be compatible with your device.
Accessing TPL eBooks and Audiobooks on your Blackberry Playbook
Update (August 21, 2014): OverDrive is no longer supporting their app for the Blackberry Playbook. The recently released BlackBerry OverDrive Mobile App and new OS (2.0) for Blackberry Playbook allows users to access ebooks and audiobooks through their device. Some have experienced difficultie...
As it is, Kindles are still incompatible with eBooks from Canadian public libraries. Last year Amazon made a deal with Overdrive to finally allow eBooks from public libraries on the Kindle but only in the US. We are still waiting to hear news about this issue from Amazon.
Library eBooks - not on Kindle in Canada yet - Updated Dec. 19, 2013
Update: December 19, 2013 With the exception of the Android-based Kindle Fire tablet, Amazon's Kindle eReaders (including original Kindles and the Kindle PaperWhite) are not compatible with eBooks from Canadian libraries. Kindle eReaders require eBooks to be in a proprietary format unique to Ama...
Testing it with the latest version of Overdrive Media console seems to work with transferring WMA audiobooks to an Apple device with iOS5 from a PC. I would give it a try, also using the latest version of iTunes.
Problem with OverDrive audiobooks for iPhone/iPod/iPad users
What's the problem? eAudiobooks in .wma format downloaded from our OverDrive service cannot be successfully transferred to Apple devices. The file names show up as numeric strings, and iTunes returns a message saying that the files cannot be synced. What devices are affected? iPod Touch iPhone ...
Thank you for your comment. You're correct - currently it is not possible to make ebook holds inactive. We're currently working with OverDrive to implement several system changes to make features more usable for our customers, and the ability to make holds inactive would certainly fit this category. We will note this request so that it might be included in future versions of our Overdrive site. Stay tuned to this blog for improvements to our ebook services coming soon.
Managing your eBook holds
Is your eBook or eAudiobook not available? Place it on hold. Sometimes it is case that you find no available titles of the digital materials you seek. Due to publisher’s restrictions, the library may lend out only a limited number of copies of digital materials, just as if they were print materi...

We understand that the Kindle is a popular choice for many who wish to access eBooks.
Digital Rights Management (DRM), are technologies designed to automatically manage rights of copyrighted work and to help prevent infringement. Of course, these can be removed and circumvented through software. Also some file formats can be converted so that they are playable on unauthorized devices.
Material in Overdrive is under licensing agreements with publishers, who chose how e-books are used, the number of devices on which a user can read the material, period of lending, and what devices are authorized. To comply with these agreements, the Toronto Public Library cannot endorse the use of tools or methods for circumventing DRM.
Although material is not currently available for the Kindle device, we are proud to offer a wide collection which is accessible on a range of other reading devices including Sony Reader, Kobo, Nook, iPad/iPhone, Android devices, and others.
If and when new becomes available for authorized use on the Kindle we will promptly make that available to our customers.
Thank you for your cooperation and continue to enjoy your ebook reading!

eBooks provided through TPL Overdrive will not work on a Kindle purchased in the US. It is a matter of Overdrive not supplying Kindle formats, not restrictions on the device itself. Libraries have contracted with Overdrive who have negotiated licenses with publishers. Due to differences in publishing laws, Kindle format are not being supplied currently. The Kindle announcement for US Overdrive users is simply a format extension made in addition to secure PDF and EPUB versions.
