I just saw this movie on opening night last Friday which I don't normally do, but it was so worth it! It was the best movie I've seen in a long time and for sure the best Marvel movie I've ever seen. I'm reading the first book - A Nation under our feet now. Thank you for all the other wonderful suggestions Andrea!
Wakanda Forever!
Black Panther has leaped to the top of the international box office in a single bound! The hotly anticipated superhero adventure is a landmark in what is already a milestone year for the lucrative Marvel Cinematic Universe. Is it a vibranium anniversary and not an aluminum one if we’re celebrati...
Great blog Reagan!
Fiction Therapy
A little back story, when I applied to do my Masters of Information Science, I pulled the classic quote-a-book on the application move. Since I was applying for library school, I strategically chose a bookish quote from one of my favourite fiction authors, JD Salinger's Catcher In The Rye: "What...
Nicely written, non-students can use these tips too!
Budgeting for Post-secondary Students
Starting college or university is stressful enough without having to worry about money too. Dealing with exams, papers, classes and work doesn't leave much room to think about your finances. However, by creating a budget you can make your life less stressful. A budget shows you how much money is...

Thank you so much for this piece Soheli. I find that there is major misrepresentation with all "minority" races in Hollywood and the media. If different cultures are represented, they are done so with appropriation...or there is typecasting. There are so many black and other culture/race films out there, but this is poorly reflected in Hollywood's Award Ceremonies, especially the Oscars. Dear White People is a great movie by the way :)
Oscars So White: Diversity and Representation in Film
The 88th Annual Academy Awards are set to premiere on February 28, 2016. While the usual buzz around the Oscars has already started - best dressed, anyone? - a more bothersome controversy has also popped up. The nominations for this year's Awards brought with them much criticism as many pointed...
Thanks for the info Charlene! I had no idea there would be so many FREE music and art events for PAN AM. Since I'm not the biggest sports fan, this is very good news. Will definitely be going to see the Roots on August 8 ;)
PANAMANIA
July 10 will mark the start of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. As thousands of athletes descend upon Toronto, so will thousands of artists. Bringing their A-game in music, dance, theatre, comedy, fashion, and the visual arts, this kaleidoscope of creativity is aptly called PANAMANIA....
Nice post! Just in time for the start of a busy year ;)
A New Year for Learning Mindfulness
In this modern day society, most people’s minds are always working on overtime. A lot of this has to do with our high stress lifestyle and overuse of technology. This means that our brains are always thinking, and our minds often race with many different thoughts at once. At the end of the day i...

New Year's at Noon
Remember when you were younger and weren't able to stay up until midnight to ring in the new year? Maybe your parents wouldn't let your bedtime slide that far, or maybe you just couldn't keep your eyes open, no matter how hard you tried. If you've got little ones just begging to stay up late thi...
Nicely done, I also wanted to go to the Prince "secret concert" last night, but I had to work...when I got home I watched the news, saw people waiting in vain....in the purple rain.

The month of October is celebrated as Women's History Month! Less then a hundred years ago, women were finally given the right to vote in a Dominion election. This was put into effect on January 1, 1919. Canada had held its first federal election where women were allowed to vote and run for Pa...

Dress for the Job You Want...

Thanks Ann, I love your blog, and I love that we both shared blogs (http://torontopubliclibrary.typepad.com/jobhelp/2013/11/happy-remembrance-day-veterans-need-to-find-work-too.html) for Remembrance day with TPL, Lest we forget about Flander's fields, keep up the good blogging!
We shall not sleep. Though poppies grow in Flanders Fields.
John McCrae, a native of Guelph, Ontario and surgeon of the 1st Brigade, wrote other poems in his life. He is best remembered for the passage he wrote while gazing over grave-filled ravines curtained in red poppies and over the constant roar of cannon and artillery fire in the distance. Rem...
