PIOMAS February 2013
Another month has passed and so here is the updated Arctic sea ice volume graph as calculated by the Pan-Arctic Ice Ocean Modeling and Assimilation System (PIOMAS) at the Polar Science Center: The good news is that the 2013 trend line is showing an uptick. The difference with 2012 and 2011 i...
A-Team,
Another great catch!! Yes I agree this site adds more real info on the arctic situation, than most of the science world, I have a feeling what I read here is confirmed several months later in some science report. I guess many scientists on this subject, think we are a real pain!
And we have the advantage we can think/write what we see, without political repercussions, or loosing face in the scientific classroom!

Werther,
"Several of us seem not to be very impressed by the actual refreeze."
Yes that is a fact, where similar to sport actually?!
Naive Predictions of 2013 Sea Ice

Werther,
The refreeze is taking on some speed now, within days it will be on par with 2007 in extent/day.

Bluesky,
Insurance companies in general, wants more risks, they will then be able to increase premiums, which will then increase their market share in your wallet. Insurance companies dont want less risk!

Lord Soth,
As you can see from this web cam image, the camera is ow placed on a floe, it is easy to see open water to the left, at least from the image now, it will be up dated soon though!

P-maker,
Looks like a solution, although modified, but that should be simple, placing them will be much more expensive though!

There are several scientific organisations that keep an eye on the Arctic sea ice cover and put out graphs to inform us of the amount of ice that is left. You can see most, if not all, of them on the ASI Graphs webpage. I expect the record on most of these graphs to be broken in weeks to come. -...

Jim,
(It will only be cold until the GIS is gone.)
Then I am OK, I will be gone by then, at least I believe so!
PS; My girlfriend always tell me, not to worry too much!

Antarctica:
I need some figures about the sea ice volume in Antarctica, but I dont know were to find them.
They will much needed in some arguments I have locally with some semi-denialists, they only have some few straws left like: Ice extend Antarctica , coldest ever measured this "summer" Antarctica, and Hubbard Glacier Alaska.

Donald,
"I am surprised that no one has commented on this prediction."
I believe it is because most of the readers and commentators on this log, do have more or less the same opinion about ice free summers in the very near future ranging from Aarons next year, to the 20 - 30 ties, and my own 2015 - 16.
