Hey everyone! Yesterday I celebrated my birthday with a few friends. I had some very exciting things happen (some good and some not so good) but overall, turning 20 was pretty sweet! Here's how the day went down. So I woke up and went to Atlantic City, NJ with my friends Joey and Scottie...oh yeah...Josh was there too. :) We stopped to look at the new Apple Macbook Pros in the Apple store. We also saw a water/light show in the mall and it was incredible. The rest of the day was spent getting my first tattoo! I was pretty nervous when I went inside...I just feel squeemish in tattoo parlors. I'm not scared of needles or pain, just the whole feel of most tattoo parlors is chilling. I was first because I had the smallest tattoo. Here are some pictures during and after the process. Since I am such a colorful, vibrant weirdo, I got a UV responsive tattoo. I got a power button tattoo as a reminder to myself that I have the "power" to get through anything; brain surgery, heartbreak, deep water, overwhelming emotions of others, heights, ANYTHING! This birthday was so bittersweet...more bitter then sweet i'd say. My skin ended up rejecting the ink and now I have a botched scar on my arm maybe in 2013 when I turn 21, I'll have better luck. I should be ashamed of this. VERY ashamed. Here it goes anyway... I did this cover of Teenage Dream by Katy Perry about 18 months ago. This was my second cover I ever did and my voice was not fully strengthened into what it is now...you've been warned lol. I'm also posting this so you all know about my soundcloud. Anytime I get a certificate for the rights to my copyrighted songs, I will post them on soundcloud, and put the widget in a post for you guys :) I would also like to thank my veiwers for supporting me so much with my last mini-cover of "Love On Top" by Beyonce. I have more covers coming! If you would like to make a request, just Email Me, Tweet Me, or Leave A Comment! Continue reading

On June 2nd, 2012, I performed at my best friend's wedding. My friend came to me a few months before the wedding and asked me to write a song customized for her special day. After writing the song 9 times, I finally wrote something worth listening to! The song is called "Exhale" and it's about everything a lasting relationship stands for - unconditional love. It was a pleasure writing this ballad, and i'm pleased with the way it came out. When my friend Jess called me up to sing, I was so nervous! This was not only a suprise for the Groom, but a chance to show my audience what i'm made of. I have only performed my original pieces in front of a large audience twice before this, but I was up for the challenge. Writing a song and performing it is completely different from doing a musical...and I love it way more :) Here are a few pictures from the big day. The video of my performance will be coming soon! Check back for the video on this post in a few days. Continue reading

I want to introduce you all to a very special girl in my life. Her name is Roma Jean Rose, and she is my new Red Merle Australian Shepherd puppy. She just hit her 4 month mark yesterday, and has bonded with me in a way I can't explain. It has always been my dream to have my own dog and finally — she's here! I am a serious dog lover and Roma brings out the gooey side of my personality. When I was in Rome, I started my search for the perfect companion; a dog that would be affectionate, loyal, smart, and spunky. I came across Roma's profile on Puppyfind.com. Her original name was April at the time, and she was so young that she looked like a baby hamster! I made my decision to purchase her from a breeder in Liberal, Missouri before I left Italy. I was so excited that I would have something to look forward to once I reached home. As the weeks passed, I received more pictures of my new puppy but still hadn't figured out a name. I kept looking at the pictures, but nothing came to me. By nature, I had to name her something that stood out from the rest of dogs I know. Most people name their dogs after celebrities that they like or traits of their dogs appearance or behavior, so I tried to stay away from that expectation. I thought up a list of names while sitting in the airport for my flight. I came up with Paprika, Bläze, Pïka, ïllusia, Fërarra, Saraï, Söri, Lÿra, Yoüni, Yüyi, Pala, Gaga, Leira, Kesh, Rina, Vësta, and Tëah. None of those worked...so I gave into the pet naming cliche. I decided I would name her after something I had done that I was proud of, Lady Gaga related or Britney Spears related. Thats when it hit me. I sang through my favorite Gaga song of all time "Bad Romance" and found her name within the first few seconds of the song. "Roma Roma ma Ga Ga Oh la la..." Roma stuck. It also worked because I found her in Rome. At that point, I felt bad because I left Britney out of my dogs name. Britney isn't such a unique name (no offense Brit-Brit) so I opted to make her middle name "Jean" after "Britney Jean Spears". Thats when the curse of the artist came into play. I wanted ANOTHER name. I figured the only three women that I care about the most are Gaga, Britney, and my mother, so I completed the name with "Rose". Roma Jean Rose was official and no one could change my mind. My decision was only reinforced after receiving another batch of pictures from Roma's breeder. I knew from the moment I laid eyes on this photo that my life would be changed forever. She looked so cute and her eyes were unlike anything I had ever seen. I felt like the luckiest person in the world. On April 14th, 2012, I went to go pick up Roma at the airport. I was a little nervous to see how she would react to me , but I kept my cool. When I walked into the animal pickup location, I saw her piercing blue eyes staring out of the cage at me. I extended my arms to her and told her to come out of her cage, but she had been through so much traveling and handling that she curled up into a ball. We left the airport and went home. She quickly warmed up to me and came out of her cage while we were in the car. She jumped up on my lap and grabbed my arms with her big goofy paws, almost as if she were hugging me. On the way home, we stopped at Stewarts Root Beer to get some food before we went home. Roma has learned tons of tricks and has become best friends with McCoy. Here are some videos of her progress. The last video, "Raising Roma" is a gift to her for her 4 month birthday. I made it to show everyone why I love my baby girl so much! Take a look :) Continue reading

I usually write about music from the past few years, but for this post, I want to go back to a time when music wasn't so commercial, a decade ago. 2002 was the year Avril Lavigne released her first record "Let Go" and was also the year I turned 10 years old. As I made it to my double digits and entered the first stage of adolescence, I started struggling with the typical growing pains that every young teen is faced with. It's when you're not a kid anymore and you are forced to start to grow up. It's difficult (or at least it was for me) because all of a sudden, you find the freedom to be something besides a child. You start to dress differently and behave differently in search of finding who you really are. The process was a long one, and Avril Lavigne's lyrics were the biggest comfort I found. The album spawned hits like "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi" — some of the most memorable highlights from the dawn of a new millennium. There was one song in particular that grabbed ahold of me, and ten years later it still has not let go. The song is "I'm With You," the third single on a wonderful and immortal album. "I'm standing on a bridge. I'm waiting in the dark. I thought that you'd be here by now." I related to her fears so much. I was standing on the bridge between child and adult, waiting in the dark not knowing what lies ahead, and I thought I would have had a clue about where to go or what to do by then. It's almost as if Avril jumped into my skin and transformed my emotions into music. "It's a damn cold night. Trying to figure out this life. Won't you take me by the hand — take me somewhere new? I don't know who you are but I'm with you." Magic. This song is a success in my opinion because she managed to paint a visual reference in my mind of the story being told. Making a picture out of something you can't see is one of the most important aspects of songwriting, and is also insanely difficult. I think it's a shame that Avril hasn't sustained as big of a career as I would have hoped she did. Avril is an incredible and underestimated writer. I don't hear much about Avril nowadays and when I hear her music, it's not the same. The industry has taken the soul out of her depth. I guess I'll have to hold on to her first few albums to feel it again... You can purchase a fantastic oldie (but goodie) right...HERE! Continue reading

"Only coffee, no sugar inside my cup." So let's start with the opening of the song, shall we? A woman's voice plays, softly stating, "Dearly beloved, if this love only exists in my dreams, don't wake me up." I see at this point that Chris' song starts off on the same foot as Madonna's "Girl Gone Wild". The song is amongst one of my favorites of Chris Brown's for one reason — the smooth transitions and build of energy. By the songs first impression, I could easily see it remaining a steady ballad about dreams. Instead, Chris Brown and producer Benny Benassi rev up the pace by twisting Benny's trademark party beat with Chris Brown's sensual charm. The title of the track gives first time listeners an accurate depiction of what to expect from the track. Factor in the neon album artwork, and the equation adds up. Enticing title + Electric single artwork + Benny Benassi = A successful party track. The depth of the song is not impressive to me. There is no real message or direction within the duration of the song. Through my eyes, I see it as nothing but a pleasant listening experience. Despite my views on the depth of this track, I do hear a successful attempt to be lyrically original. Jean Baptiste is the only writer I could find on the credits for the track. Jean Baptiste has worked with Chris Brown on several songs including the extraordinarily successful "Look At Me Now" from his "F.A.M.E" album. The song stays true to the theme of dreams and sleeping, (Ex. "Only coffee, no sugar inside my cup.", "If your heart is a pillow, this love's the bed.") Can't wait for this music video! Should be interesting! If you haven't listened to Chris' new smash yet, you should listen to it now! If you liked what you heard, Support him on ITunes! Continue reading

Hello and Good morning to all of my readers! I have been running Discoworld.typepad.com for almost five months now. I love updating the website, but I am having a difficult time updating it multiple times on a daily basis. Due to the low amount of views that I have been getting and discovering the challenges of running a website, I am going to spread out all of the posts I have been writing. I will still have new posts daily, but they may not be the ones you have been used to seeing. I would also like to add some new categories to write about, and start posting videos more frequently! The website will be undergoing some changes that should be completed today but it is only an attempt to improve your viewing experience. I appreciate my readers and am looking to gain more popularity by making alterations. Have a good one! Love, D.Top Continue reading

In February of this year, I took my first trip out of the country to Italy! My main reason for going was to do some recording for my album. I saw incredible things, spent time with quality people, got to make some amazing music, and even learned to speak some italian! Each day I will share a new picture of my trip across the globe — a trip I will never forget. No, I am not trying to work my way onto inspirational posters across the high schools of America, despite what you were just thinking lol. I had just climbed to the top of a mountain in the Alps! Victory jumps ARE necessary for an accomplishment this large! I feel like this might be the most epic picture I have ever taken in my entire life! Continue reading

Each day I will share a new picture of my trip across the globe — a trip I will never forget. Yes, I help little old ladys cross the street - linked arms and all. What a boy scout, right? This photo is a memory from the day Josh and I went shoe shopping with Bianca. She smokes 3 packs a day and bought me a fantastic shirt. On this day, I was introduced to a place I had never stepped foot into before; a designer shoe parlor. Thousands of designer shoes scaled the dozens of walls in front of me. As we made our way there, I wasn't too excited because I would rather be my own designer then buy clothes mass produced by someone else. My opinion quickly shifted as I laid my eyes on what I call my "Chucks". You'll have to wait to see them until tommorow in my next update for TravelTime. It is well worth the wait, I promise you that! Continue reading

"You're not going to break my soul." Katy Perry is now on her second chart topping feel-good anthem! First of course was Firework, now it's Part Of Me...what could be next? The world needs songs like these. Here's a fun fact - I actually had somewhat of a relationship with one of the writers of this song! Look her up — her name is Bonnie McKee. I had spoken to Bonnie after buying her solo album "Trouble" on ITunes. The communication was on and off for 3 years and in that time, I found out that she is a wonderful, helpful, beautiful, talented individual. 8 years later, this song comes on the radio, I look up the team behind it, and low and behold - I see her credit. HOLY SHIT, right?! I believed in her from the start and now she's writing for Katy Perry and Britney Spears!?! Dreams do come true! As wonderful as this song is, I wish that it was the single from a NEW album! I loved Teenage Dream and I feel like she is headed towards the right direction with her sound, but I just....I need more Katy to put it frankly. She's a gorgeous, fun, exciting girl! Her music matches her personality! Continue reading

I had my metro card, I just lost it after my 5th glass of wine...woops...lol. "Cause i'm feeling so shady late-lay-yeah-ehah" All right, Adam. Here we go. First off — you beat me to the punch...for one track. This track is the funkiest disco track i've heard since "You Should Be Dancing". I think anyone can tell from the websites name...i'm clearly obsessed with Disco. I want to make Disco music and live a Disco lifestyle. I see now that Disco is CLEARLY not dead based on this songs existence alone. It's not just the Disco that i'm interested in though; it's also the 90's bubble pop spin that he made with the lyrics. Listen to how he sings the "Lately" lyric. Tell me that it doesn't remind you of the Nsync/Britney/Backstreet days! It's clear genius, this song. The world needs more of this. Props to Adam for making such a dynamite beat! You inspire me Adam! Check out "Shady" below, or buy it HERE. Continue reading

I think it's about time I talk about this incredible song. For three years I have been waiting for the next stage of musical evolution, and I finally found it! Starships by Nicki Minaj is a raging summer anthem with BALLS. Starships is the most quickly purchased song I have ever bought on ITunes (11 seconds). It is the most listened to song out of the 11,158 tracks in my ITunes library. The leader of plays previous to Starships was "3" by Britney Spears. She has surpassed a Britney single. HOW?! I'll tell you how. The breakdown after "We're higher then a motherfucker" is....I don't even know what to say....it's just glorious. That was what sold me so quickly on the song. Just when I thought that the introduction of dubstep into dance/pop music was the next big thing, here comes Nicki Minaj to prove me wrong. I have to say that Nicki should just buy into the whole Dance/Pop music scene and leave Hip Hop/Rap music behind. I see that she has a passion for rapping, and she is perhaps one of the best female rappers I have ever heard, so I understand why she would stay connected with that audience. With that being said, another part of me still believes that she should break from that for a little while and focus on the revolutionary/groundbreaking discoveries that she works so well with. The dance music half of Nicki Minaj's latest album "Roman Reloaded" is some of the most energetic, boundry pushing material that has ever graced my ears. She has given every top selling recording artist a run for their money. It should only be a matter of a few months before we start hearing music similar to what Nicki Minaj has accomplished.
