finding treasures amid the crumbs and the clutter of life with littles
Interests: Hi! I am Taylor. I'm married to a youth pastor and I have 4 kiddos 5 and under. I love to read, sit still, and make stuff (besides babies, ha). If there is anything I've learned in the past 5 years, its that parenthood has got to be one of the best ways God parents us! I am constantly learning more about who He is and who I am from my kids. The days are long, the years are short and I want to glean whatever lessons I can from the Mama-life, especially while my kids are so little. This time of life is isolating, and I hope to make this blog a place to connect with other "moms in the trenches" and encourage each other. Because don't we all have days when we want to hide in the bathroom with caffeine? So there's that. Welcome to the blog! Can't wait to get to know you.

We encounter God in the ordinariness of life: not in the search for spiritual highs and extraordinary, mystical experiences but in our simple presence in life.” Brennan Manning As moms, finding quiet time alone with God is an illusive quest. The good news is God is always with us, even... Continue reading

When I counted the cost of discipleship by motherhood, I didn't think about the booth in the back of Panera. I grew up in a church where the answer to every question was either "Jesus", "God", or "Pray-And-Read-Your-Bible". Every Wednesday night of High School, my youth pastor's wife would silence... One of my greatest struggles as a mama is the daily care and maintenance of my children and my home. The laundry. The constant refrain of "make a meal, eat a meal, clean up after a meal". Fingerprints on everything. Bedtime battles every.single.night. Even though I know that my greatest... Continue reading

Sweet Charlie has had a different sort of infancy than my firstborn. I don't spend Saturday afternoons positioning him on fuzzy blankets trying to get that perfect two-tooth smile on camera. Today he attended two soccer games and a birthday party. He was held by multiple adults who are not... Continue reading

For some reason tears sprang into my eyes when I read the title. This was beautiful, Laura. I can hear the pea gravel crunching. :) I experienced some disillusionment when I worked there as well (I worked there several years as well as a married summer in the administration building, very different world). I'm glad you got to recover the precious things from the broken. (I do sing that song to my kiddos..."I'll build a bungalow big enough for two...")

Yes. I just felt awkward about saying "cervical fluid observations", haha. It was an eye-opening book, for sure! Our bodies are so fascinating.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility was a helpful read for me to understand FAM. Even w/o charting or taking my temperature, I typically have a great handle on when I'm ovulating (although I do have a very regular cycle when not nursing.)
