The one thing that I have learned is that I become more courageous as I go through difficult situations. In the last year, I have lost my Aunt Ellen and health problems that have left me frustrated. Even though I have gone through difficult situations, I have understood that I am making it through. This weekend I asked Brenton how he gets through difficult situations. He told me, "One step at a time." Continue reading

This week I decided to repost a previous blog. The reason I want to repost instead of writing an original blog is because I need to spend time with my family. After the first week of school, I also needed alone time. This week spend time with your family. Even if you have to reheat left overs or forgo checking your email, you need to have time with your family and time alone. While you have time, read this blog about giving God your nothing. Continue reading

This week I want to encourage you to start a project that you have put off. First, make a plan and get what you need to start the project. Next, start doing a small part of the project. Once you have completed that small part, go on to the next part. Put a timer on and work on the project an hour at a time, or, if you only have 20 minutes, then set the timer and work for that 20 minutes. Continue reading

This last weekend, I realized how important it was to take time to rest and refuel the passion. Due to exhaustion, I got really sick, so I had to take some time off from my regular routine to get the rest I needed. As I rested and got well, I realized that I desperately needed to become more passionate about my purpose. The last two days I have become more determined, focused, and driven. Continue reading

In my life, I have made decisions to spend time with people who were negative. The truth is that I was a negative young person, so that is who I attracted. When I was 20 years old, I decided to change. I started to think more positively about myself, others, and the purpose that God had put within me. That year, God brought Brenton into my life. He saw beauty and intelligence. The moment he met me he began to speak positive words into my life. Continue reading

Making our life count means that we find out what our purpose is and create goals that will help us create our dream life. Sometimes, we need to make small changes that move us toward our purpose, or sometimes we need to make bigger changes. If you can't quite your job, you can still work on moving toward a new career by researching the new career or taking college or community classes that will expose you to that career. Continue reading

We all have choices. We may make the wrong choice, but, if we continue to make bad choices, we will not like the outcome. If we decide to cheat, give into our anger, or steal, we will have to live with our consequences. It is one thing if we make a bad decision once, but, when it becomes a pattern, we have to deal with bigger consequences. Continue reading

Everyone lives with a regret or two. For some it is very few, but for others it is a boat load of regrets that is hard to get over. We listen to our negative thoughts that are usually from fear. Those who succeed and keep regret at bay are the ones that don't respond to fear. They just take action even when they are fearful. Continue reading

God is All-Powerful! He can do anything with what we have. It doesn't matter if we have nothing to give. He can create beauty from ashes! Continue reading

This week I struggled with my emotions, and I had one anxiety attack after another. On Wednesday, the anxiety was so bad that it felt like someone was squeezing my heart and I felt pain shoot down my left arm. It was agonizing! My husband, Brenton, finally said, "Enough is enough." He rescheduled an appointment with my counselor that I had cancelled. He even drove me to my appointment, so he made sure that I got the help I needed. What she and I discussed was about my problem with perfection. She talked to me about giving God my nothing. At that point, I understood what she meant, because I did not have anything to give but nothing. When I understood that all I had to do is take my nothing and hand it to God, I realized what a lighter load it was and became more relaxed almost instantly. Continue reading

This last year I have struggled quite a bit, but I know that God is taking me to new places. He is faithful and I am learning to completely lean on God and know that He will get me through every struggle. Once I have gone through the struggle, I will be better off. In the struggle, I am learning to delight myself in the Lord. As I delight myself in Him, I have realized that my desire is to draw closer to God and for Him to do His Will in my life. Continue reading

I started by questioning my reasons for not starting this project. My first reason was it would take a long time to create an account, so I decided to see just how long it would take. Much to my surprise, it only took a few minutes. I had let this unrealistic reason keep me from achieve my goal. Next I wondered how long it would take to upload a video, but once again I was shocked at how easy it was to complete the task. Within less than an hour, I had set up a YouTube channel and posted my first video. Today, my channel has been up for over two weeks and I have posted over 20 videos. Today I wonder why I waited so long to start this project. Sometimes, we have dreams that we put off for lots of different reasons. We let circumstances and unrealistic reasoning stand in the way of completing our dreams. We look at the obstacles in our way and allow them to keep us from achieving our dreams. We need to keep our eyes on our dreams, and overcome the obstacles. Continue reading

As we sit here in the hospital, waiting for the doctors to decide the best course of action for our Aunt Ellen, who has fallen and fractured a hip, we are talking about the need to being appreciative for what we have. Twenty four hours ago we were coming home from lunch, enjoying our day when tragedy stuck. It was great day, and we were taking for granted the mobility that all of our family had. In one moment everything changed. Ellen, who has enjoys her mobility, could no longer walk. If we can walk and talk, think, and function normally, we are blessed. When we go through life, we tend to take our blessing for granted. Continue reading

Many times, we hear ministers talk about blessings from God. This is especially talked about during offering time. A lot of times, people think of blessings as money. There are several different types of blessings, though. Some blessings are money or possession related, but this is not always true. One of the most common blessings is health. God wants His people to have health and wellness. If we are not getting healed, there is a reason. We usually do not know the reason, but, if we have faith in healing, we will receive our healing Continue reading

Moving toward success and reaching our goals is important to everyone. We all have a desire to fulfill our purpose in life. This can be done through balance and persistence. Working on our goals daily is vital to life success. Of course, there are some barriers to balance and success in life. Last week, we discussed balance. This week, I want to explain that one of the most important aspects of pursuing balance is how we react to failure. How we react to others' failures is also important to our success in any area of our life. Continue reading

A healthy lifestyle deals with every area of life. It includes spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical. If any of these areas are out of balance, it can negatively affect the success of other areas. Due to my unresolved emotional problems, I struggled with my weight and my grades in school plummeted and I struggled to trust anyone. The mistrust that I experienced affected my spiritual life, too. After my mom died, I struggled with my weight, again. Now, I know it is time to tackle my weight problem by also getting my spiritual, emotional, and mental areas balanced along with my physical area. Why now? In the last few months, I have struggled with my health. Almost every day was a struggle to get out of bed. I struggle to put one foot in front of the other. Finally, I said enough is enough. This year I need to get my life balanced and start my healthy lifestyle. I'm balancing my spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical areas in my life. Continue reading

Today, we celebrate freedom in this great country, but we also give honor to those who fought and died for that freedom. The best way to give honor to our fallen heroes is by receiving our freedom and not taking it for granted. We need to understand what our freedom means and how we can use our freedom to live successful lives and help those around us live successful lives, also. Continue reading

The concept of taking the counsel of others is vital to our success. There are different kinds of counsel that we all need to seek. We need to seek the advice of God through His Word, pastor or counselor, family, and friends. These advisers cover everyone in your life. Continue reading

During Old Testament days, kings were the most powerful people on earth. They were in charge of their people and their kingdom. They determined the way that people would act and what God they would worship. There are many examples of good and evil kings from this time. The tradition of the times was for the king to be replaced, at his death, by his son. The son would commonly following in his Dad's footsteps. If his father was good he would be good, but if his father was evil then his actions were evil. The fathers set the example for their sons to follow. Continue reading

There are times that I wake up in the morning and feel like a wreck. My body hurts and my emotions are out of control. This is something that I thought was unique to me, but I was wrong. I am not the only one that goes through these moments of frustration and hopelessness. Why do I know this? Because in the Psalms, David talks about how depressed and hopeless he feels. When I realized that David went through the same problems as me, I felt comfort and knew that I needed to see how David handled the situation. Continue reading

In the last few months, I have struggled with feelings of emptiness. A few days ago, I began to question why I am feeling so lonely and empty. As a woman with three kids, a great husband, and a God on my side, why am I feeling so forgotten? Last night, I heard Misty Edwards talking about Song of Solomon, and I started thinking about romance. Sure, I have a wonderful husband who gives me plenty of romance here on earth, but I need something more. It is not satisfying my spirit. As I read Song of Solomon today, I realized that there is a spiritual romance I am missing. For some reason, I go strong for awhile, but, when times get tough, I get weary and give up. Instead, I need to start running to God when times are tough and I feel alone. This emptiness can be defeated by a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit. Continue reading

What does hang in there mean? It means keep fighting. We have all heard that winner never quit and quitters never win. We all know that this is true. One of the most watch programs of the year is the Super Bowl. This is a great matchup between the best team from each conference. This is what people want to see, how do you think the game would change it was a matchup of the two worst teams of the year? What if the teams were made up of players that tried out for the team but quit when the tryouts got difficult. No one wants to see this type of event. The Super Bowl would lose its reputation of being a premier sports event. We need to understand that we may fail by trying, but we will always fail if we quit. We must never ever quit. The last two months have been very stressful months. We had all kinds of issue come up that added to our stress level. As you have heard, our grandmother passed away last month. We had to take time off work to go to the funeral. We went along on the trip to help the rest of the family in case of car trouble; however, we were the ones that had the car trouble. The air conditioner went out, and the cost of the repairs caused us to have to purchase a newer vehicle. Our air conditioner at our house also died and we have been working to repair it. Just when we think we have it fixed, something else goes wrong. This has caused us a lot of stress. Our normal life is very busy, so this just adds to the stress. These issues have caused us to look at the way we deal with stress, because we have been dealing with this high level of stress for almost two months. When we are faced with stress, we need to understand that a small amount of stress is good. This small amount of stress keeps us on task and helps us to be productive. But prolonged amounts of high stress are not good for our health. We need to learn to deal with our stress appropriately. This can be accomplished in many ways, and we will address our favorite five steps. Continue reading

We should believe in ourselves no matter what. We should laugh at all things and in all times. If we apply these five steps to our lives, we can live a life that honors the memory of this wonderful young lady. Continue reading
