hey you, not knowing i was camping in the 'rain shadow' of mt rainier last solstice weekend, we had our share of 'you-know-what." yes, shades of drizzle drazzle. galore. and out of that funk came the twin of your bundle of lushmommy-an entire pound of morels! all the while i was spying other dyeing materials thinking, let's do a dye workshop in the woods! what say ye?

this monotype triptych has even more resonance with me after a recent adventure in the backforty(see second photo). created several years ago, i finally shot a photo of it and am ready to part with it. similar to some of the cloth pieces, it was fabricated from multiple layers of sheer tissue that had been printed on with water soluble relief inks and assembled onto masonite panels. the inks from that series caused me to rethink my printing ink choices and i switched to oil-based inks to avoid the bleed experienced with these first generation water-based inks. since then, there is w-s printing ink that when dry, will not rehydrate, so i am now experimenting with that. easy clean up with soap, water and vinegar. a patron once commented this pattern would make a swell shower curtain. okay? hey you-the first class went swimmingly. 5 stitchers, working on a sampler, hands moving and needles bending, all the while, having a good time getting to know each other and sculpt where the class will head. indigo vat in two weeks. i will make sure you are the recipient of something out of that vat. besides the bloom, that is!
