Given Rubashkin's obliviousness to moral boundaries, I would encourage an investigation of chabad chevrei kedisha organizations.and their past and present connections to Rubashkin. One might discover that those who say they or don't eat chabad were speaking more literally than they might care to know.

Smicha has no official status, as the chain is.acknowledged to have been broken for milleniah and the conditions which the rambam says are necessary to restore it have not, by any means, been satisfied. Nonetheless, I would view the assumption of the title Rabbi as a black mark against the.character of a person who would include himself in such ignorant and corrupt company as the multitudes of those using such a title and the here and now.

I would say Baruch Hashem, but I would be less inclined to praise someone who allowed this swine to perpetrate such evil against so many for so long.

News that Hikind and Maimonides are involved in a corruption scandal that includes kickbacks and a hiring policy that stresses nepotism rather than qualifications is as shocking as hearing that peanut butter snd jelly.have been caught colluding in a sandwich.

Dear J, I too went to Toras Emes and encountered or witnessed all that you refer to and I am sorry you suffered so badly. Should you see this, please take some small comfort in the fact that you are not alo.e in your experience. Despite the age of the post I'm clarifying the record for posterity. The first grade Rabbi you refer to is Rabbi Ridderman (sp). I was always too tall for the file cabinet so he found other ways of publicly humiliating me. The second grade Rabbi is Rabbi Wald who would choke students and pulled one studenf by the ear so hard it permanently damaged his hearing. He would give pieces of paper with numbers out in the beginng of class for whom would be called on first. Different people would always get the numbers from 2 onward delivered with non-chalance. A boy seemingly unremarkable to me as being particularly bright or getting the answer right even more than half the time always got number one and was doted on by Rabbi Wald in a mannef that in retroapect seems positively creepy. When I would read alone in a corner or at the table during Lunch, Rabbi Ausfresser took delight in confiscating such evil books as Lord of the Rings and any Asimov novel and threatening to suspend me if I brought them again. When I pointed out to him that I got one such book from the class library that apparently had not been purified by the hanholah, he kept me two hours late at school for some kind of detention (school ended at six) and lied to my parents that I merited this.punishment because I had been violent witb another student and cursed him out when he apprehended me. In the third grade, students whose parents were late with tuition money were yanked out of the classroom when secular classes began (but.not interfered with during limudei kodesh) and publicly humiliated by the teacher or administration lacky doing the deed who then announced, with the students im question standing gathered in the front of the full classroom, that they were being sequestered because their parents had failed to pay uup on time. After being humiliated like this for a month, I got the nerve to mention it to my parents and was beaten and yelled at for having withheld the information on-purpose. I then arrived the next day to discover that this was due to an administrative error and a man called Rabbi Zellinger gave me.an apology that was two seconds if that long. Rabbi Silbermintz in fourth grade verbally abused me and tore up my answer sheets during several exams when he singled me out for cheating, though I could not understand what behavior merited the attention and if it were truly the case that he thought I was cheating, why did the allegation never extend beyond beinged raged at randomly. My fifth grade Rabbi would constantly say that the holocaust was going to happn again, as a yiddish speaker and child of parengs who were born in dp camps and whose grandparents had been at auschwifz and.treblinka, this was serious stuff and I remember crying from the nightmares motivated by his constant repitition of these exact words "and it's going to happen again" repeatdd ad-nauseum. The substitute rabbis were always verbally and often physically abusive, though hardly ever succsssful at keeping the class under control (Rabbi Rabinowitz, as you mentioned, would find the easiest student to pick on and slap him around with the yardstick but he would also hurl it with precise aim and cut the back of my neck on one occasion when he hurled it from behind). I back you up on the abuse by Rabbis Respler Ausfresser and Schwartz, as both a witness and victim, though to be honest Schwartz waz on his way out during my time, but I can say that if the place was a prison with Schwartz, it almost immediately went maximum security with Respler who within a year, had curtailed more than half the recess opportunities and had Ausfresser not only checking yarmulkahs (students from first grade ul caught wearing suede, leather and smaller than regulation length kippas merited immediate suspenion whether caught inside toras.emes or ratted out by someone for wearing them) but actually MEASURING then with a tape measure, regardless of the head size of the wearer. In any case fhe Rabbis were not all monsters, and few secular instructors ever even approached the sheer sadism of the Rabbis, even the best of whom were training us to disrespect our secular instructors and the worthless subjects they taught (while being told that it was chillul hashem when students did so). While this note, I recognize, is more for the purpose of catharsis and self pity than of documentation of events, it is one hundred percent factual. Others certainly suffered worse than I did, and Toras Emes is not the only Yeshiva of this nature, in fact it might have been one of the milder facilities of the tri-state gulag of far-right yeshivas. But I still hate my folks for keeping me there for 8 years, even as they knew some of.what was going on.

Wow. Wow! Nothing like reading a bunch of anonymous, armchair leadership experts on how to handle a Holocaust. Posted by: Elliot Shrier | August 16, 2012 at 02:47 PM Here's a tip: Don't tell your flock to stay behind, relentlessly criticize Zionists and then take help from Zionists and leave everyone else behind, and then pretend it never happened.

This is not about ideology. This is about being a morally and intellectually disingenuous thug. Yemach shemo v'zichro.
