A brave move and I'm sure the right decision for you, Benita. I will miss your beautiful blog it's been so inspiring and intimate. Wishing you well from the UK. Claire xo
The End
It’s not just the end of the year, I’m afraid it’s also the end of this blog. I feel bad for just blurting it out like this on New Year’s Eve but the end of the year feels like a good time for me to wrap things up. I’ve been blogging for five and a half years and have LOVED it but all things...
Wishing you a peaceful and Happy Christmas Benita and your loved ones xo

Love the cute design and you've restored the wood beautifully xo
Cute as a Button
If you follow my Lovely things Pinterest board you might have seen this pin and my comment to it. Ever since pinning that button trivet I’ve been wanting one. Lotta A pointed out that I could make one by using a cheese board from the local supermarket but although I’ve been keeping an eye out...
Your table looks pretty - what are the flowers? Surely not tulips? Have a good week xo
Project 52: Week 44
Week 44 is fall break over here which meant far fewer people out and about on my way to work in the mornings and back home in the evenings. Friday was a shorter day at work because of All Saints Day on Saturday which was nice. On Saturday we had friends over for dinner and drinks. Oh, and Min...
Yay to blue skies! These look great xo
Project 52: Week 31
Blue skies, hot weather. Not our typical Swedish summer but we’re not complaining. As for the blue skies they are now new and improved! I bought a polarizing filter! I’ve never been good at taking photos outside and there are a number of reasons for that but one is that it IS tricky shooting ...
Whoop, whoop! for Willie. Love it!
The Graduation
So Wille graduated last Wednesday! Tradition over here is that family members gather outside the school to greet the graduate with a sign with a photo of the graduate as a baby, toddler or child. I dug out this black and white photo and had it printed. At Wille’s school, which is quite a...
Amazing difference. Hope Willie has a great day xo
The Lawn
My poor lawn. And poor me. Last year I redid the back yard as you can see in this post. The harsh and longer than usual winter (we didn’t really get any spring at all this year, it went straight from winter to summer) really took it’s toll on my lawn. Quite a few weeks in I real...
Lovely clean photos. My boys are always complaining that my pasta dishes are too bland also - even though I like them that way. Have a happy week xo
Project 52: Week 21 + 22
I’m still doing Project 52 in case you’re wondering what happened to it last week when I didn’t post about it like the previous 20 weeks. I’m still taking photos and I may still post them here but maybe not every week. So on this particular Monday I share two weeks worth. The cherry tree at t...
A white Kitchen Aid - made for you :) Yummy bagels too.
Bagels
I’ve been keeping sort of a LCHF diet for the past 18 months or so. No bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etc. I haven’t missed any of it. Except for the bread. I love bread and most of all I love bagels. So after a year and a half I got a bad craving for bread and bagels in particular and si...
Love the picture ledge it makes the area so intimate :)
Green in Home Office
So here’s what the home office area in the living room used to look like. You can’t tell in this photo but at the far end of the desk there’s a window. Mini and Bonus love sitting on that window sill and to get to it they used my desk as their walkway. It meant I constantly had to wipe the de...
Thanks for all your posts and it'll be lovely to read about your new phase. I feel really happy for you reading this - experience, enjoy and escape xo
Five
Today it’s exactly five years since I started this blog and without much thought named it Chez Larsson, at the Larsson’s. Little did I know the popularity it would gain and how many of you that would tune in daily, weekly or on occasion since then. The blog has given me so much. I’ve gained on...
Love that award. Great sense of humour. Have a great week xo
Project 52: Week 17
On Tuesday of week 17 Martin and I were invited to Wille’s class dinner. The food pretty much sucked, that place must have made a fortune on having us there, but the great thing about the dinner was meeting Wille’s classmates. Some I’d met before but some I’d only heard of extensively and I c...
A Zen bike shop - I'm intrigued!
New York Day 3
The first time Wille and I went to New York together back in 2008 we stayed in Joanna’s apartment on Bleecker Street and didn’t realize that we were a block away from the “Friends” apartment. Last time we went (2010) we forgot but this time our mission was to find it. Yay! Both Wille and...
Love the vibe of the city that you've captured in these photos. Can't wait to see more. Welcome home xo
New York Day 1
So I’ve been trying to figure out how to best tell you about our trip to New York and at the same time keep it as a diary for Wille and I so I’m going to post each day as it went by basically. We left on Monday April 1st and flew in to JFK via Helsinki, Finland. On arrival the immigrations ´p...
Wow! I wasn't expecting this. So bold but so right xo
Basement Stairs Part 3 - Revealed
I bet you’re all pretty fed up with my basement stairs by now but I just want to finish this series off by showing you the final result. Here’s what I started out with. Orange pine that had seen it’s best day. Here’s that same view today. All nice and white. From here you can’t see the “...
I knew the styling looked familiar - great industrial chic Benita. How great do those empty mayo jars look? Did the cake taste good?
Hellmann's Event
So, here’s the event I participated in last Tuesday. All of you Americans probably know all about Hellmann’s mayo but over here it’s not a well known brand and they want to change that. So they invited a bunch of bloggers to set up an Easter dinner and eat it too. I was in charge of setting t...
I look forward to hearing more... smart table setting and venue. Have a more relaxing week xo
Project 52: Week 12
12 weeks. 40 to go. This week I was out of my comfort zone. I went to an event. I get invited to all kinds of things on a weekly basis by PR people and maybe about once a year I accept. The thing with these events is that I feel really shy and awkward there. It feels like everyone knows each ...
Love the simple Easter tree. Have a good week xo
Project 52: Week 11
Sunny but cold week (-17 C on Thursday morning on my way to work). Wille’s on a healthy streak (no sodas, no candy, no snacks) so we have an abundance of fruit. My Easter tree is in and I’m keeping it au naturel this year, just the emerging leaves, as they are. Also, thanks to you guys I’ve d...
Hi, I'm fairly new to pinterest so great to get some more inspiration. Love the consistency of these boards. Pinterest is a dreamy place. Happy weekend xo
Pinterest Faves
What is your main source of inspiration these days? I used to read a lot of magazines but I find it harder and harder to find ones I enjoy. I also used to read a zillion blogs but have cut down a lot, again because I find that I’m not that inspired by a lot of them anymore. One major source...
Wow, what a difference, especially the stairs. Great inspiration for doing up a house little by little - it's all come together so well xo
Living Room Before & After
Today I’m sharing a before and after of our living room. I’m trying to become friends with my wide angle lens. I don’t love it, I much prefer my 50 mm 1.4, but the wide angle does come in handy for shooting interiors. My lens doesn’t have quite as wide an angle as the realtor’s photographer h...
Some cute photos. Nearly spring Benita xo
Project 52: Week 8
Another week has passed and it’s not been very different from the rest of them. Winter weeks are always the most boring in terms of photos because we stay inside and don’t do a whole lot of interesting. Mini did steal my spot with the new pillow like you predicted, I enjoyed some coffee , Ann...
We have our microwave on display and don't actually own many small electrical appliances (just a toaster). We have a built in fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher in our new house and I love this streamlined look. Wouldn't mind a white microwave though! Happy weekend xo
Where's the Microwave?
Staying in the kitchen for this week’s last post. It’s a reader question. Q: Where’s your microwave oven? A: It’s in the cabinet right above the freezer! When I planned the kitchen I considered getting a built in microwave but because I had this one that was working perfectly well I decided t...
A very pretty natural look (lovely shaped nails) that can withstand everyday life. I always feel better when I make the effort to have a home manicure and apply a little clear varnish. In fact I'm going to make time for it today. Happy Weekend :)
Beam me Up Essie
I’m a fairly low maintenance kinda girl. Don’t wear a ton of make-up (and if I do wear some I usually go for the “nude”, “no make-up” look). I do want to look ok though. A lot of the time I probably don’t achieve it with random paint stains in odd places but my aim is to look clean and pol...
I so need to this - maybe I need to make it more entertaining too. Happy weekend xo
Papers, Papers, Papers
I’ve been in a purging, organizing mood since Christmas. I’ve sorted stuff out, donated to the local charity shop and basically just been wanting to get rid of as much as possible. I’m realizing that for every year that passes I want fewer possessions. One of my projects has been to sort the...
I like it! I like the smart finish the dark stain gives to the edge but I think it will also look good in a few years when it gets worn and aged. The oak parquet is dream xo
The Stairs Part 3
So the saga of the stairs continues. One of the problems I encountered when choosing what to do with them is that although the landing in front of the bathroom has oak parquet, the nose is still pine. I considered replacing it with oak but realized that I’d have to semi dismantle the whole st...
