Adventures and Mishaps in Australia
As always I have a million words in my head... but so few on paper. I decided to break out of my comfort zone and travel to Australia alone. Not really knowing what to expect but anticipating it being a bit uncomfortable. Being alone is hard for me. Although I've... Continue reading

THE PNW AESTHETIC
PNW style seems to be changing... there's an unnamed trend emerging. Artists, designers, photographers, everyday folk like us - all taking inspiration from nature in new ways and translating into our work and life. Dusty plaids and an overabundance of woodgrain is out, and a simpler vibe that pulls from... Continue reading

MAGIC LESSONS WITH ELIZABETH GILBERT
“To yell at your creativity, saying, “YOU MUST EARN MONEY FOR ME!” is sort of like yelling at a cat. It has no idea what you’re talking about, and all you’re doing is scaring it away, because you’re making really loud noises and your face looks weird when you do... Continue reading

THE LITTLE THINGS / / NO. 62
These little cactus babies are rocking my world right now! I've decided every girl needs a little bit of hot pink in her life - even me. Years ago, (before Pinterest was a craze) I saw this photo of a kitchen windowsill lined with Harney & Sons tea tins growing... Continue reading

BEDSIDE NEWBORN BASKET
I'm in the last month of my pregnancy and I've gotten the crazy nesting bug! I don't remember feeling quite this way when I was pregnant with Lucy. Maybe it was the all day nausea for nine months, I'm not sure. But this time around I have had the constant... Continue reading

Hi Lee! Thanks for your comment! The desk was a hand-me-down but I believe it was originally purchased from Ikea.
Ideas for Desk Organization
I finally have my new desk all organized and I thought I'd share a few ideas today. My favorite way to organize is with vintage finds or unexpected items, it makes your space feel fresh and fun instead of like an office supply store. My main objective was to have a uncluttered work surface whi...
Lists on lists of happy things. Lists of ideas. Doodles. Midnight inspiration. Perfect and imperfect quotes. ... I love notebooks way too much! This one is super cute! :)
PROJECT 1/30 : a handbound journal
Annnnnnnnd, we're off! 30 projects in 365 days? That sounds manageable. (I've got four queued and ready to roll.) I mentioned that phase one of this project is all about using up existing supplies. This is part of my idea that sometimes creativity comes when you GET IN A BOX. Setting parameter...
ANNETTE LAKE / A STELLER STORY
I found this fun app a couple months back called Steller. You can make little online books and stories with it. We went on a hike on Saturday afternoon to Annette Lake. You can see all my photos in the story below. Hope you like it! Continue reading

THE LITTLE THINGS // NO.61
Back with another episode of the little things. For this week it's just like I said on Instagram yesterday ... all the plants, a cup of black tea, corners getting cleaned and an ultra colorful maxi skirt. I love plants! I'm still not sure that plants love me... but we're... Continue reading

LUCY | THEN & NOW
I just love how photography captures the passage of time. One of my favorite past time is looking through photos of Lucy on my computer. Every now and then I will come across a photo and it will remind me of another photo I took a long time ago. Each... Continue reading

THE LITTLE THINGS // NO.60
I'm bringing it back, and it's number sixty to boot. When we first started this blog we wrote a post called 'The Little Things' every week. And right about now, it seems good to have a reason to focus on the good, not the bad. The beautiful, not the ugly.... Continue reading

PROJECT LIFE | JANUARY 2015
I think this is my fourth year of doing Project Life. For a couple of weeks I considered not doing it again, but then I asked my husband if I should continue the project. His answer was YES! He said it in a way that let me know that he... Continue reading

PENNY PINCHER TIP
Penny Pincher Tip No.1 // Use What You Already Have One of the things on my "If 2015 Was Perfect" list, was to carve out a reading nook. And since I don't have any perfect attic windows to transform, I decided to transform a corner of our guest room/ piano... Continue reading

LITTLE THINGS | GIVE PERF BLANKET
The winter month are rolling in, and bringing the accompanying chill in the air with it. This time of year, I tend to be surrounded by piles of blankets (I'm so cold blooded it's not even funny). I have stacks in the living room, a pile by the TV, and an extra fuzzy one on my bed that I thro...

Thanks so much for this Elise!! Totally valuable resource. Saving it for projects coming up!
small business resources.
(hi! I updated this post in November 2020 with more resources that I currently use.) I get the same few small business questions in my email inbox often. I don't mind, it means I get to feel like an accidental expert in custom rubber stamps and paper stocks (I am not even close). But it also m...
52 PROJECT PROGRESS + CHECK SHEET
As I mentioned awhile ago, I decided to embark on a 52 Project with painting. I'm still loving it! I've also realized I like black & white much better than working with color - at least for text. I'm curious to see how this will morph over the course of... Continue reading

Lovely blanket! I love imperfectness of it and the color palette is perfect. I don't think I have a favorite post from 2014 - I love your mix of posts... photography, crafts, small business, all of it. It feels very balanced. But maybe my favorite from 2014 is your podcast!! I love hearing you chat about small business with so many other creative awesome people out there rocking their thing!
Look forward to reading and listening in 2015!
the 30th knit blanket
Last year, while I was knitting my 29 blankets, I knitted one extra (I think it was number 19). I didn't have enough of two yarns colors at the house and I was wanting to knit so I just started adding scrap yarn together. Of course, then I ran out of scrap yarn and had to go buy more to actual...
ONE LITTLE WORD FOR 2015
As fall moves into winter I always find myself reflecting on the current year and thinking forward to the year ahead. This year I've been thinking a lot about life in general, goals and priorities. All the heavy stuff that has a way of keeping you up at night. Sometimes... Continue reading

Hi Kathleen! Glad you found our little corner of the internet! The bag looked like an old leather briefcase to me, if I remember right it had two compartments inside and a little metal clasp at the top. I had a friend that had been looking for one for awhile so I picked it up for him. I just dusted it off, shined it up with a bit of oil. I think he is using it as a book bag.
7 TIPS ON HOW TO THRIFT WELL
Alternate Title | How to Not Achieve Hoarder Status I love thrifting, it is one of my all time favorite ways to kill time. Especially by myself. And that is saying something because I generally don't enjoy spending time alone. I love the thrill of the hunt, finding unique interesting items t...

7 TIPS FOR SHOPPING AT IKEA
Let's start with a disclaimer... this is not a about 50 ways to hack a Lack table, or any other kind of Ikea furniture for that matter. When we lived in Spokane, I hardly ever went to Ikea, partly because it was hundreds of miles away. But when moved back... Continue reading
