Summer Art Camp
Art camp was a huge hit this June and I have to say I loved every minute. My young student artists were so enthusiastic and willing to jump right in and create. For me, that is what makes teaching art to children rewarding. Our class them was Woodlands and Forest... Continue reading

Boerne Handmade Market::October 25
I've been a maker since I was a child. My mother has a picture of me as a little girl sporting fancy milk carton shoes. I began painting soon after that , and I've never looked back. I like bright colors and whimsical subjects--birds, flowers, hearts, and houses. My paintings... Continue reading

you are loved with an everlasting love
Did you ever listen to Elisabeth Elliot? Her first husband, Jim Elliot, was serving in Ecuador and was killed with four other missionaries by the tribe they were trying to reach. After his death, she stayed in Ecuador serving the Quichua Indians before coming back to the States. She had... Continue reading

Gorgeous. And now that I'm done with my cowl, I'm using all leftover yarn + some new to make one. I chose 30-40% wool yarn since my cowl was for my MI trip. It'll be a warm and toasty blankie for next "winter". ;-)
project update : crochet blanket
Popping in with a progress report on the crochet blanket first blogged about on this post. I haven't had too much time to spend on it, but do find it such an enjoyable project for bursts and start type crafting. It just seems to add up to something pretty quickly in my mind even if you're doi...

Loosening Up
I want to learn how to loosen up my brush strokes. I'm by nature a very controlled painter and I am not always thrilled with that aspect of myself/art. Maybe this time next year, Lord willing, I'll have improved to my satisfaction. Continue reading

Shakespeare + Middle Schoolers: Go For It.
Talk about a winning combination! I'm sure some of it has to do with the fact that we are reading a comedy. Who does not like A Midsummer Night's Dream? If you don't, don't tell me. I love it. It was my first exposure to Shakespeare and I remember thinking... Continue reading

Art at Home (Homeschool Art)
We homeschooled for several years. I enjoyed the time it gave me with my children, and the flexibility it allowed while teaching. I now teach MS English (7th/8th grades) and K-12 art. I am not required to teach K & 1, but this year my goal was to work classes... Continue reading

Birthday Surprise
WOW. Fully awesome day. Instead of gifting Alan with yet another wonderful lego, which I do love to give, I thought it would be fun to give an 'experience' instead. The fun thing? Daddy took the day off and made it even better! And Nonnie came, too. They spent the... Continue reading

The Parade
The Independence Day parade in our small town is a big deal. We sat on the curbside with the rest of the city and enjoyed the celebration. Flags, Veterans, Fireman, clowns, bikers, lowriders...it is an amazing parade celebrating our country's independence. Cook out at Nonnie's, and laying on the quilts... Continue reading

July 4th is not just the celebration of our Nation's Independence, but in our family, it's the celebration of Alan (aka Ol' Toothless). Alan at Welcome Home. This photo is in Alan's file at Welcome Home. There's also a naked baby picture. ;o) 4 years ago today, I called Alan... Continue reading
