It was raining, but gently (sort of), so we kept the ride on and shortened the distance.
The group rode well, really well given the rain/spray/mud/fecal matter that was being flung about, and ended up averaging 26.3 km/h by our arrival back into Arkell.
Besides the cold(ish)ness and the rain it was a great ride. Overall some things we can work on next Wednesday ...
- not accelerating up the climbs but holding steady so those who are less conditioned can keep up (err ... I'm talking about myself here)
- pedaling over the top of the hills, not freewheeling when cresting the hill, so that bunching doesn't occur in the back of the group
- continuously pedaling when on the front so there is less accordion at the back
Just some items to work on but overall, excellent ride!

Here is Wednesday Nights ride! We have brought the route length back into the advertised 30-50km range and in regards to speed, we have no goal (we will not exceed the avg of 28km/h). Simply we want to move as smoothly, safely and steadily as the group will allow. We want to ride as a group, not...
Le sigh.
CANCELLED Thursday June 13 ride, 6:30 PM
The ride for tonight is cancelled. Did somebody not sacrifice an inner tube to the cycling gods this spring or something? There is a constant streamer headed down to the Guelph area http://weather.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WSO Better luck next week I suppose, argh.
I would note that riding tempo and attacking are quite different.
Second group on the road had a great group ride. Rode tempo, rotated smoothly and safely for the entire ride.
All said, quite a successful ride and a good start to a new way of doing Thursday. Quite enjoyed myself.
Thursday Group ride May 16th 6:30 pm
Going to head north now that the weather is warmer and with a strong northwest wind this route is going to be fast coming home. Be advised we will be leaving in two groups, first group will be pushing the pace, second group will also get a great workout but will not be surging, maintaining the g...
Interesting ... yes. My 45km legs gave up at 46km.
Thanks for not leaving me to be eaten by the vultures. Damn, it was windy.
At least we weren't racing the lake of bays ... BA HAHHAHAHAHAHA
Sunday May 12th ride - 9AM
RIDE IS A GO. Although with probable rain in a few hours, we will change the route to this, keeping it shorter, and starting into the wind as opposed to coming back in it: There is a small section of gravel on Maltby near Victoria. Also, we can bail out on Downey Rd if rain hits.
My super legs aren't super yet. Ouch.
That was a great ride folks and a fantastic turnout. 20 or 21 members and in general, safe and consistent pack riding.
Thursday Night Ride: May 2, 6:30 p.m.
