I couldn't make it, but thanks for the recap. Who was the moderator?

Josh, you make some good points, but not sure they apply in these cases. I'll preface this by saying I am not a voter in Dist. 12 or Dist. 9B. Brian, is one of 10 candidates running for three seats and yet he's only targeting one specifically. And that one, to my knowledge, also hasn't followed the conventional path. (You could make the case that only one of the 10 has). Moreover, the blueprint for seeking office ain't what it used to be. Down in Montgomery Co., there used to be a hierarchy and an order for when ppl would run and what they'd run for. That's virtually out the window now. We see more common folk getting involved and seeking office (a good thing, IMHO) because they're inspired by something they want to fix, not because they've paid their dues and feel it's time to "get theirs." As for Rich, I'm less concerned with what his opponent did four years ago -- or 8 years ago or 15 years ago -- and more interested in what he wants to do now and in the future. I'm also less concerned with what Rich has done in the past and more with what he wants to do now -- and frankly, I have no idea what that is because he's spent most of his time trashing his opponent. Also, I like the fact that the teachers didn't endorse the teacher in this case. I've seen that happen in the past (and the present in some other races), and it's a turnoff. Endorse on the merits, not on the job they hold.

Two of my fave candidates! Kudos!
Did you know that Volkoff's real name is Josip Nikolai Peruzović, and he ran for the House of Delegates back in 2006 (doing so under the Volkoff name) -- alas, he lost in the primary.

Pretty flippin' hilarious Bill. Guessing probably the first time that facial hair has been lobbied to run for office. I was waiting for you to name every high school mascot in the county, a loaf of bread and your washing machine as more desirable candidates.
If memory serves, the last time CA tried to raise prices, based on the expense on washing so many towels and the environmental impact of that, there was nearly a riot. And that was only a couple bucks I believe. While we use the gym, for us, the real benefit of the CA membership is the pool access. I suspect we're not alone.

Good for you Bill, for not letting the over-registration stand in your way. I'll be running Saturday, and while I used it as motivation to get back to running more regularly, I'm less concerned with my time and more looking forward to the camaraderie and spirit that will be on display.
Interesting thought on Byron. For some reason, hadn't entered my mind. Ian, too. It seems this would be an ideal time for young blood to enter public office in Howard County

Actually Bill, 10 Democrats, most of whom would be considered conservative Dems, voted against the repeal -- Brochin, Dyson, Garagiola, Kasemeyer, Klausmeier, Mathias, Middleton, Miller, Robey, Stone
