What is it that comes to your mind when someone mentions tabletop role-playing games (RPGs)? Most people probably think of Dungeons & Dragons (D & D). There are several references to D & D in recent popular culture, including the campaigns played by the gang of friends from television's popular... Continue reading

A beautiful tribute - and an excellent reminder of the responsibility libraries, all public institutions, and all individuals have in working toward reconciliation. I also had the privilege of hearing Richard Wagamese speak, and was fortunate to meet him and exchange a few words - his good nature and humour despite his difficult journey were truly inspiring. I hope everyone will take the time to read his works.

I really enjoyed reading this post, Beau - and I applaud you for being able to seriously purge your collection a time or two! I loved your line "and if you're naturally drawn to order the way I (a librarian, after all) am, there is pleasure and satisfaction to be found in plucking a few diamonds from the rough to be placed in your personal menagerie" - I think you really captured the heart of what it means to be a collector.

Chi miigwech Melanie - your statement "If you are Canadian, you are a treaty person" truly resonates with me. We live in a time of instantaneous communication and ever-growing information resources, so ignorance of such important issues - Canadian issues - is not an option! I look forward to learning more, and making use of some of the many resources available.

Thank you for such a lovely post, and for the excellent reading suggestions for children - although I know some adults who can benefit too! I'm also happy to hear about initiatives like Rainbow Storytime. Thanks for your comments and dedication about/to Orlando - we will never forget, and hopefully will help each other heal. #lovewins

What a lovely blog post, and beautiful accompanying images! The evolution of these stories is so interesting, and also the idea that the themes that were very commonplace at one time are now so controversial.

This book sounds great - thank you for the review and suggestion. I love reading anything supernatural/paranormal and I am always amazed at authors who can take creatures (like werewolves) and reinvent them in a way that makes me still want to read about them - because not everyone has that talent! I'm looking forward to checking out Kat Kruger!
