Fascinating! So glad you are sharing your new year adventures.
a visit to Harrisville
This week I had scheduled one of my frequent trips to Hardwick, Vermont for a Taproot meeting. But rather than take the regular route, I decided to make a trip of it, discovering a new close-to-me place along the way (remember that New Year's Intention to seek adventures? Yes! Big and small!). A...
Brilliant! And inspiring... I'm taking notes!
my studio story
Some of you might remember the plans I had for a studio above the barn when we first moved here. It was a matter of time and budget (and a baby on the way!) that we didn't do it right away. But as time went on and that space began to be used by the kids, I wondered whether it was the right p...
Those descriptions are perfection, the drawings, too.
such clean friends we have!
Most all of these little bundles have been distributed, so I feel safe in sharing them here with you now. Not that our holiday gift this year was a huge surprise to anyone, but still. Of course, we gifted soap! A Soule Family Solstice Soap Sampler to be precise. It was late Augu...
Sweet nothings~
Such pleasures.
days of nothing
I can't tell you how many times I played checkers yesterday. Or picked up a stitch on Adelaide's new knitting project. Or read Christmas Trolls to Annabel. Or played the boys newest favorite game, Fluxx, that doesn't make any sense but sure is fun. It was a lot of all of the abov...
Best wishes, and merriment, Soules~
pause & enjoy
I am about to fully dive on into Christmas days with these wild and awesome monkeys I love so much. I'm looking forward to pausing everything else to enjoy the blessings of this season. I'm sure you are ready to do the same, and from our home to yours I wish you much peace and joy with those...
So glad you could pop in between dashes!
Your blog is a lovely part of the merry and bright that I enjoy... All year!
Good Cheer
This season, it goes too fast. I want to draw out every day and wrap these moments around me like a spiral of sparkling lights. Christmas in Dairyville, walks to our neighborhood bakery, and having latkes with our neighbor, Amelia's offic...
Boy oh boy! Looks like a moment of fun indoor play.
Enjoy a beautiful Winter Solstice, Soules~

. . . . . . . . . {this moment} ~ A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find...
Love it! We are in a similar mode... and happy, too. We have a passion for making, and it's extra fun this time of year!
(Throughout the year we share our Make activities with others: http://www.youngmakersclub.blogspot.com). All the activity in your home looks merry and bright!
making
Ah! SO much making happening around here. Making music, making gifts, making merry, and most definitely making messes. My studio redo is nearly complete, the wrapping has just begun and everywhere I look I find someone else working away at something - paper chains, glittery pinecones and...
Festive loveliness! Your halls are decked!
Thank you for the fresh take on those moments before the party begins... My head is always spinning about that point, so I'm afraid I've been missing out. I've come to love {oddly enough} the after party clean-up... I reflect on the good fun we've had, appreciating our bounty, and funny things said, happy friends who shared in the event, all while washing dishes and sorting everything. I see it's a blessing to enjoy all the moments, yeah? Blessings!
making merry
Oh, I love the moments right before my house fills with people. When the kitchen smells of yummy things in progress, the house is as clean as it will be, and the kids are glued to the window waiting for our guests. After all the running around that happens before a part...
Really very nice indeed.
Thank you for the reminders.
{can you please give dear Clover affectionate attention from me?}
Winter Lights
I just love December. It's really nice.
Ah, sweet pup. Those great paws, and that slack tongue... clearly that is one happy and well loved puppers!
We had some really awesome moments this week, and I can't help posting an extra silly fangirl-giddy snippet:

When children take the initiative... it's really such a sweet sight to behold.
little trees
While Mama's been busy with Nutracker and then messing around in my studio, and Papa's been busy keeping the home fires burning and everyone happy and fed, inside and out....it has not been lost on a few of the Soules that the clock is ticking in on December. After a few requests to put up o...
The merriest sights... Especially the whirring girl as she dashes through her world!
Merry and bright... All the days, and nights!'
Winter Ways
December days. The weather is dim, wet, the sky very low and filled with purple. Afternoons out, nights in, mornings dark with candlelit showers. Early Sunday morning I found myself driving out to Powell Butte where I sat in the morning-bright, c...
Magical!
What a pleasure it is to see art alive and well, on its toes!
Congratulations... bravo, to the family who dances, in one role, or another~
at the end of the show
I'm moving slowly this morning, and my boys are still sleeping at 10:30am. It is the morning after a long stretch of Nutcracker time and we're all sleepy (including Papa who has juggled the home front on his own). I think I feel as tired as though I were on that stage dancing all...
Handsome boys and you can see their pleasure! Happy dancing, Soules~

A magical time of year, a magical time in her life.
And we get to see the world new, when we share it with our children.
Isn't it amazing and good?
Season of Thanks
Gee whiz, hello, you! How are you? I've been here, there, and everywhere, and all of it was just lovely. I so wanted to be organized enough to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving on time, but the days seemed to evaporate; I sincerely hope...
Happy Birthday, Harper~
And Merry Decembering, Soules!
hold on
We are in the thick of such goodness right now! A birthday to celebrate (how can my sweet little Harper be six years old? Oh, but he is!), a Thanksgiving holiday we hosted (with a forty four pound turkey to boot!), and the beginning of a long string of Nutcracker shows (this year finds us ...
Happy Thanksgiving~
thanks & {this moment}
Thanks for all the support you offered our lovely sponsors yesterday! And thanks to the sponsors for all their lovely updates and discounts offered! A quick note that the coupon code for Craft South has been fixed. And a head's up that my regular posting schedule for the coming days is a little ...
Such a solid testament to your work that all of these merchants and talented people want to sponsor SouleMama.
Thank you for sharing so many unique shopping opportunities for the season.
Happy Thanksgiving, Soules~
in gratitude
Dear SouleMama Readers, During this week of gratitude, I want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for spending some of your own precious time here reading. It is a pleasure and a joy to spend my time working on SouleMama, this space that is a part of the work that nurtures and feeds ...
Could this being any cozier or more inspiring? I think... Not!
Autumnglow
At around four o'clock on several afternoons this week I've gone racing home from wherever I am to grab my camera and then careen back out to the east side of Mt. Tabor to try to catch the alpenglow on Mt. Hood. It's short-lived but so worth th...
Why do those old records make you feel *closer* to the music?
I'd love to play some Christmas LPs on a turntable this holiday season...

All you do! And with heart and passion... It's uplifting to behold so much enthusiasm for the things you do, Amanda.
Congratulations on your Taproot success. Looks like another special edition!
Issue 12::BREAD
Taproot's Issue 12::BREAD is hot of the press and begins shipping to subscribers this week! Issue 12? How can it be? This wraps up our third full year, it's so hard to believe. And each issue gets better and better (in my humble opinion, that is). This one takes the cake. Or the bread. Or the ...
Sweet temptations, this looks fun!
really, really hooked
(Thanks for the photos, Calvin!) Really, I'm not obsessed, really I'm not. I'm just....well....diving into the deep end, or something like that. A mere month after I picked up the hook for the first time, it seems I've committed myself - both financially and space wise - to rug hoo...
This post is aglow in warmth~
Lovely, through and through.
Baby Warm
As the leaves turn and drop, and the winds blow and blow, and the rain falls, and the clouds cover, and the frost comes, and the heat turns on, and the fake fireplace glows, and the apple cake bakes, and the chicken with wild rice soup simmers, and the m...
*sigh*
All those sweet comforts of home, and on a Monday morning, too.
I cannot blame you for wanting to stay in! But, indeed, the reasons for heading out are
compelling, and worthwhile~ Enjoy your new week!
Our November flurry
Every once in a while, I get bogged down in the perceived (by me) drudgery, especially this time of year. Because, oh....how happy I would be to just stay home for days upon days upon days at a time (especially this time of year)! Truly....there are many family jokes about how ...
