Well done Jen's Mum, I too made a granny stripe blanket in the last few months, which took me an age (210 chains), as I kept getting distracted by other projects!! It is fantastic once you get past the initial counting and dc row but well worth the effort and Lucy's help is invaluable. It is BeAuTiFuL!!! Great post too. So... what will it be next??? Karen x
Crocheted blanket
Well hello, this is Jen's mum, and I'm guest blogging. Please be gentle with me...its my first attempt at blogging. Jen thought I might like to show off my latest creation...so here goes. I had just finished a crocheted storage bag...mainly done to finish up some of my stash...aren't I good.... ...
Thanks Audra, they are my favourite colours for tulips. Crocheting, and resting, away!! x
::Half Term - It was all going so well::
:: All was going so well. Half term week was ahead with all it's promises of finished blankets, wool winding sessions and family times, see it started really well here and here. Despite a cold and a cough, I had a lovely lunch out with my boys at Green's of Grassmere, then later in the week wi...
Thank you Evelyn, I've just been winding it into balls, whilst resting of course, so feeling better at the sight of it already! Karen x

Hi Audra, your ponchos are beautiful!! I will pop them on my FB page and share! You have so many amazing makes, cannot wait to see the patchwork blanket, you have a lot of WIP's Love Karen.xx
::Poncho Love::
I have been so inspired by the many crocheted, colourful ponchos springing up everywhere, so snuggly warm and incredibly practical. Poncho's are the perfect cover up in chilly weather when you don't need a coat, and when made with wool, can be luxurious and beautiful.I have had a poncho for year...
HI this blanket is beautiful, I'm so glad you picked up your hook again!! Yay!! Love it. Karen :O)x
Finding time for crochet
2013 was such a rollercoaster year for my business that I barely had time to pick up my crochet hook. Following a health scare late last year I decided I really needed to make time to do some of the many creative things I love. So over the Christmas break I raided my long abandoned stash of...
Hi thanks Jackie, good to have you on board!! See you soon Karen :O)x
::Homemade Artisan Bread::
Hello! Mmmmmmm.. can you smell it, it's just out of the oven!! It all started a week or two back when, over on Lucy's blog, there was this post about homemade Artisan bread and how easy peesy it is to make at home. The link , here, describes the method and ingredients perfectly. It looked a...

::Ta-dah!! Sunny festival granny stripe crochet blanket::
Ta-dah!!!! It's finished. What a journey I've been on with this blanket and it has taken 6 months to complete- on and off. Here is the first post when I introduced the idea behind the project. It was a time of transition for my family; my first festival, first holiday without E, my adventure ...
Gorgeous post, loving the Granny knits and sneaky peeking Little R playing peek-a-boo. Lovely. Karen:O)x
Little R's Weekend Adventures
Dear Little R, I was going to wait longer before doing another post for you, but you always do such amazing and cute things that I can't resist! Your weekend adventures have included: Learning to make these little chicks whistle. You've worked out that your thumbs are stronger than your finger...
Hi Jen
I can well imagine the frustration and foot stomping cheesed-off-ness that ensued after the counting. However it is an easy mistake to make. It is a beautiful yarn and you are brave going for a 4ply knit, I'd need to improve my glasses prescription I think!! Happy knitting and cowling- it's going to be god-gee-us!! Karen :O)x
Cowl Catastrophe!
I've had a catastrophe. Nothing heart-stopping, and actually pretty predictable. See, I bought this glorious yarn and accompanying pattern at the yummiful Yarndale in the summer and at the time I was well aware that I was probably setting myself up for difficulties. For a start, it's not the bri...
Thank you Katrin, I love it. Karen :o)x

Happy New Year Jen, all this food makes me feel hungry!! It looks lush. Glad you had a lovely festive time. Karen :o)xx
Slow winter days, slow winter cooking
One of the best thing about cold winter's days, I think, is warming winter food. So we are currently very much enjoying two Christmas acquisitions. Acquisition number one: For Rachel, from me: a TAGINE! And Mum got her a cool wooden pestle and mortar! Luckily, she saw it as an exciting new ...
Hi Helen, thanks for dropping by. It was a lovely walk and although cold and wintery it was so good to get out! Enjoy the Australian summer! My friend really loved her glittery lampshade. Karen :o)xx
::A Boxing Day Walk::
It is customary in our house to go for a walk on Boxing Day, as I think it is with a lot of people. In past years we have walked around Buttermere, slipped and slid our way down the long path to the lake and wibbled and wobbled our way around. This was all worthwhile knowing that back at t...

Thanks Jen, I have had a busy half term so far but I'm looking forwards to getting away and I'm loving my Autumn wreath too. I'm just checking out a pattern for pine cones, having just finished a glorious sunflower and dahlia. Hope to post the finished project soon! Karen :o)xx
::This week so far...::
WOOOHOOOOO it's the half term holiday! Lots of jobs and bits and bobs to tick off my list! Well half term in my house generally involves lots of sleeping (me), eating (me) and catching up on housey type jobs (everyone) that I either can't be bothered to do or haven't time for in term time. These...

Happy October!
It's been a glorious month here in Oregon! Well, except for yesterday when we had pretty horrid weather. It's been several continuous weeks of warm, sunny days and cool nights. Just perfect for making great fall color. I've been able to get out and enjoy the weather despite a full wee...
Hi Jen, pleased you're all safe and sound. Not a bit of The Wizard of Oz-like hurricane it was predicted to be!! Sometimes we can be resourceful when we have to be, and it seems that your evening was more cosy than catastrophic as a result. Hope all gets back to normal outside soon! Karen :o)xx
Our Hurricane Adventure
Soo... this big old hurricane. Man, did we get plenty of warning about it. Red bands right across our little village and dire warnings of much extreme weather. So, sensible chapesses that we are, we stocked up on food you can eat cold, bought 100 tealights and packed away all our garden potplant...
HI, love this post! I have so many projects on the go that I am at any one time avoiding something!! Love to read your blog- always cheers me up. Pop over and check out my crochet projects when you get chance - would love to see you! Love Karen :o)xxx
Procraftination: Pom Poms
Procraftination: Pom Poms I am not sure how you shirk your craft projects, but I have started procraftinating. You know, when you piffle about making little things to avoid the craft projects you diligently placed into Springpad 6 months ago. No? Okay, It must just...
HI Jen, they are lovely to make and I'm very pleased with my colours in the end. So many projects and so little time!! Happy hooking. Love Karen x
::Ta-Dah!!!!! Flower Burst cushion ::
Ta-Dah!!!! Front and back views... I have been working on this cushion for only a couple of weeks - B.Y. (before Yarndale) - and it has come together so quickly and satisfyingly! In the beginning... I purchased a lovely feather filled cushion, and some violet and purple shades of yarn, ...
