For those more, ahem, experienced posters, I would offer up Rick Schu as a comp for Cody Asche. While Schu was a decidedly better fielder, Asche's admittedly SSS of offensive numbers are strikingly similar. The thing that I don't get about Asche is his ability to make the spectacular play, and then boot routine plays, well...routinely. Rick Schu was no great player and he did have the unenviable task of following the greatest third baseman of all time directly. In this era of seemingly diminishing offensive output, I could see him being a serviceable third baseman if he could stop with the seemingly ridiculous errors. The ones he makes should be avoidable. Of course if Franco turns out to be a star Cody needs to find another address. Either literally or on the diamond.

The new site should be called Whineleauger.

"I am struck once again by what a... Let's go with "pronounced" backside Bastardo has." Possibly the most disturbing post in BL history. Ick.

God this thread has jumped the cling on.

No big deal. I have half a dozen posters that I ignore. Most of their writing styles are very obvious so it's not hard. This jitbag makes it very easy.

GTown, I heard about that coffee but I thought it was a monkey not a cat. Sounds delicious either way.

I read in Consumer Reports about 10 years ago that Starpukes intentionally burns their beans because they buy the cheapest beans they can buy. That swill tastes like panther piss.

GTown is one of my favorites as well. How he and BAP kept up the drum beat of doom and gloom from 2008 through 2011 is beyond me. Truly God-like pessimism. Neuroses like that can only be admired. Lost interest a bit for the few months in the middle of the season that Gtown went MIA. But BAP did yeoman work and by that time had plenty of help as the writing was on the wall for the home nine. I learn a decent amount from peeps on here but the humor is really the only thing that keeps me coming back. And while on the subject, it has been sorely lacking this season. And FYI putting that little trade mark thingy after every stupid inside joke is not, and never was, funny. Go ahead. TM to death.

You guys are all missing the point. The real problem isn't the top heavy roster or decaying rotation. And it's not the biblically suckulent bullpen. It's not even the fact the Boy Wonder GM has lost his cape and mask. No, the real problem is the broadcast crew. They are clearly a -8 WAR crew. With Whitey and Harry this teams steamrolls its way into the playoffs.

"I would rather pick my nose with a chefs knife then discuss Ryne Sandberg's coaching staff." Please do it.

OMG, what have I started?

Dick Pole? His parents must have hated him to name him that.

By most accounts, Samuel has been pretty mediocre at his job. I have always liked Sammy as a player and a guy, but if the only requirement for this coaching staff is that you are a friend of Sandberg....well let's just say the more things change the more they stay the same in Phillyland. I've got to think we can do better.

My God there must be an awful lot of people that post on this board who have absolutely no friends. Who would put up with such crap. Some of these exchanges are like Larry David arguing with George Costanza.

Speaking of guys playing out of position, Evan Gattis is hideous in left field. No ability at all, and it looks as if they never bothered to try to teach him anything out there. He throws to the wrong base. He goes all the way to the wall on balls he obviously can't get to. Yeah, he's an outfielder in the same way that I'm a brain surgeon. I mean technically I could get some power tools and a scalpel and "operate" on a brain, but I don't think it's a good idea. And neither is Gattis in left. I know they just want his bat in the lineup, and I don't blame them. With a 70 game lead in the division they can afford that luxury, but that won't fly in the playoffs.

Thanks Jack. That is what I thought. He made a throw from center field that was Reveresque in it's lack of velocity. I figured I knew the answer to my own question.
