The post about the round bolster pillow and not about a ripple blanket
Once upon a time I started a ripple blanket, I used a random selection of odd balls of wool and took a long time to get on with it, then just fell out of love with it. I decided to repurpose the wool I'd used, waste not want not and all. So I unravelled it row by row. This bit ...
Sunny summer crocheting
This weekend gave me the chance to have a short few happy moments, crocheting in the sun. A friend is expecting a baby soon and I've started a variation of an elephant comforter from Inside Crochet for the imminent arrival. The original had rows of ripples, but I've gone for... Continue reading

My little town has been taken over by bicycle fever. The Tour de France will be completing one of its initial stages in Yorkshire and will be travelling through our streets this July. Yellow bikes, white rose of yorkshire flags, colourful bunting and red spots have been up popping up... Continue reading

My vintage finds
I've been investing a bit of time in my toy making project and on a recent day out stumbled across a shop which was a treasure trove of lovely vintage bits and bobs. I found a pretty embroidered runner and matching tea cosy, old crochet cotton reel, a wooden bobbin... Continue reading

Crocheted granny square blanket - on the go
My blanket project has been progressing slowly but steadily. At the last count I've crocheted over 90 circles and completed nearly 50 squares. I've been taking opportunites to work on it when I can, especially on train jouneys. This is just a drop in the oceam of the 144 squares... Continue reading

Crochet hooks review - a little journey
Since I started crocheting (about 5/6 years ago) I've acquired a small collection of hooks. I've been on a search for the perfect hook for a while now and I've almost found it. Here's my review of the crochet hooks I own... From bottom to top: 1. My mum's grey... Continue reading

Another kind of hooked - my hooked yarn elephant
At last years Knitting and Stitching show in November I saw a great stand, Hooked by design. After a demonstration on yarn hooking I decided to give it a go, armed with a frame purchased at the show, a hook from Etsy and some lengths of wool. I'm quite pleased... Continue reading

New beginnings 2014 - crocheted circle blanket on the go
My aim for 2014 is to make things more simple, less rushing and over thinking. So as part of that plan I've organised all my crafty stuff and picked up some bargain (read January sale purchases), but attractive storage for my new, more organised start. I've had the same sewing... Continue reading

Crochet Hearts on the go
I've loved making the pretty crochet hearts from My Rose Valleys blog this summer, my train journeys to work have seen a rainbow of crocheted cotton hearts flying off my hook. Rico Design Essentials cotton was my yarn of choice for this project, with a bit of Langs Tissa too. The picture below...

The Party
My little boy (A) is about to turn three, we haven't done a party until this year, he was excited and I was feeling slightly hesitant, could I deliver a party to meet his wide eyed expecations? Ok, so at three the bar is pretty low, somewhere to run around... Continue reading

Ends, ends, ends everywhere....
Sewing in ends has to be my least favourite thing, if someone invented a gadget that would do it for you, I'd be be buying it. This scarf is intended to be worn this winter, there is a good chance winter might be over by the time I've gotten round... Continue reading

Upcycled Mittens
I had an old favourite pair of mittens that I wasn't wearing anymore, but I didn't want to get rid of them either. I'd bought a book on sock creatures and decided I'd have a go at a mitten creature. Looking down at my old mittens I decided a rabbit... Continue reading

Something a bit more hoopy
Embroidery is something I've recently discovered again, this little hoop is something I've been working on for a short while inbetween my crocheting pursuits. I once went through a phase of creating small pictures of boats using scraps of fabrics, buttons and thread. They were simple but quite sweet. I... Continue reading

A bear for a boy
This bear made last summer was based on the Amineko cat pattern by Nekoyama. It was made using some orphan balls of cotton picked up in a great wool shop called Knitting Pretty. My first thought for it was a frog as it was a particularly swampy sort of a... Continue reading

My First step towards CE Marking a crocheted toy
I've been thinking for a while about making toys to sell, but lack of time, work, child, house, something has always stopped me from moving forward. Then I decided last year to really go for it and invested in some pretty woven Luck & Loops labels. Then I found this... Continue reading

Pom Pom Flowers - a good on the go make...
A project from earlier this summer, pom poms are one of my favourite things to make, fast and fun. An easy make for a commute too, I managed a good 25 basic pom poms on a journey too and from work. Even easier with a neat little pom pom making... Continue reading
