I also believe the core( this includes Ruiz) got stagnant. I was involved in competitive play locally. We had a pretty good team and made it to the finals and semi on every session. After about a 18 months one of the Senior members of the team decided to leave. He has been doing this for over 15years and he told me if you stay too long on one team the team stagnates. I later found this to be true. At one point other than team captain I was the only one left from the original team.
Rather than "wish for Howard to get hurt", i rather the Phils just release him. Either way he is going to get paid. Stop blaming Howard for Rubens mistake. Its only a few games into the season to get to excited about Franco BA. I think he needs time in AAA.
Surely you jest our own RAJ was a athlete...Well sorta...

Wait i thought Ruben said he didn want to trade someone for a pitcher with near 5.00 ERA? What the deuce, hoping one of their eagle eye scouts get this right.

Not seen Jimmy will certainly be different to say the least. Let the rebuilding process begin. Sad and at the same time excited that the Phils had finally started the rebuild.

Even if Lee is healthy it will be hard to trade him. He might have to ride out his contract here. Im sure he wont be too happy if thats the case.

Clout that is one superb post. I think BL'ers see KK as the Phils refusal to move on/change. Also their failures to develop replacements @ the minor league level. In this regard he has sort of become in some people's eye as the embodiment of what is wrong with this franchise. I think this was mention in a earlier post. KK has never been a fav so it makes him the poster boy of the Phils failures to adopt to change. Also keep in mind Rube can and probably will replace him with someone who is actually worse. See Ty Wigg/the Chads, D. Young etc. Im not necessarily advocating to sign him or not. However if we can get him cheap we should at least think about it.

More like 3 short years Curt.

Looks like Bl'ers dont want to roll the dice with KK anymore. The last 2 seasons weve rolled snake eyes with him. I think hell get more than 2.5 mill based on you know his past performances..Mainly the 11 Season.

Could be Colonel...JWilliams is highly suspect as a starter just quoting what i read i suppose...Kendrick essentially had that role maybe not by design for a period..

Should said Martin might be next in line on the depth chart. Morgan would likely need some innings before been called up.

I thought they re-signed Williams more as a swingman type than a actual 5th Starter. I also remember reading that Pettibone might not be ready by opening day. Unless they plug in Martin in there for a bit.

Its probably how much the Phils are willing to eat part. I dont look at the War or Fangraphs stuff. Even though that option year is a bit of a hindrance, he (Byrd) has a modest contract. A mid/low-market team should still be able to afford him. If you figure you are essentially getting him at a small discount for 1 season. To my untrained eye he did seem to field his position "well enough". Could it be that other teams are just simply trying to fleece us and RAJ isnt budging. As he said in his one interview offering pitchers with 5.00 ERa's in return if memory serves me correct.

I see what you saying Lore. I would sit out any big FA signing this year and start with the following season and build from that point. That's in line with what i was thinking.

Dragon perhaps thats a good thing. Last we need is a overpriced FA ( yea i know they all overpriced) on a 3 year deal, if the team isnt going to compete in that time frame.

What is the plan? Adding pitchers with 5.50 ERa's and utility fielders. Same plan just different year. Theyll hold on to Byrd for one year too long and wont get anything of value for him. Except a minor league pitcher with a career 5.5 and utility infielder. Rinse and Repeat...

Shhhhh! Dickie...RAJ might find out...

SMH....SMDH...At the 100 mill price i would of probably passed it up. At this price i would gave it more thought. How fitting if Ender winds up to be a star, we let him go but still had Mini on our team. For this and other blunders Amaro should be kicked in the ass an his walking papers thrown at him.

They should of kept Ender...SMH!...SMFH!
