Man this site has really gone into the crapper. That's it. I'm out of here.

Saw an article in the Inquirer that said Ben Davis and Kevin Stocker are two of the finalists to replace Jamie Moyer. Not sure I like either of them. Got to be someone better.

Bubba - I liked the Fiat ad as well. On the subject of the Super Bowl, the only Phillies equivalent for Pete Carroll's decision to pass rather the run Marshawn Lynch that I could think of was Danny Ozark's decision not to replace Greg Luzinski with Jerry Martin in the 1977 playoffs with the Dodgers. I'm sure there are better ones.

This year's best and worst Super Bowl commercials. Best: 1. Bryan Cranston in the Esurance Super Bowl commercial as Walter White from 'Breaking Bad.' 2. Danny Trejo as Marcia Brady in the Snickers ad. 3. Liam Neeson brooding over a video game. Worst: 1. Anything with Kim Kardashian in it. 2. Any commercial about toenail fungus. 3. The Nationwide "Make Safe Happen" one about the kid's life cut short. A worthy topic but a real buzzkill for a Super Bowl event.

As long as Cole is not complaining, I say hold on to him until one of the contenders gets desperate.

If it weren't for the predictable catfight between Tal Venada and TTI after every one of Venada's posts this place would be DOA. Pretty sad.

Not sure which is going to feel longer, the off-season or the season.

It's actually too cold to think about baseball. This is the kind of weather where you can get brain freeze just going out to get the mail.

I suppose, given the lowly state of the current team, that a guy like Harang who can rack up innings and reduce the wear and tear on a young bullpen would be something of an asset. Damn near got a hernia trying to look on the bright side on that one.

2015 promises to be a dismal year for Phillies fans (I know, tell me something you don't know). I fear we will be reduced to watching and arguing over a collection of has-been, never-was and never-will-be players. Time to look into a new summer hobby.

As for me, I prefer Kodos over Kang. He's got much better power.

The Sixers, the Flyers, the Phillies and now the Eagles. These are dark days for Philly sports fans.

"I didn't realize what a large role Beerleaguer played in my life until I lost it for a few days. I thought I'd be stuck wading through all that weird millennial humor to read decent Phillies conversations over at TGP for the foreseeable future." - epicurean Same here. It's weird how little habits that make up part of your day leave you feeling a bit off-kilter when they suddenly disappear.

"2007 2nd round pick: Travis D'Arnaud. Guys picked after D'Arnaud: Josh Donaldson, Jordan Zimmerman, Giancarlo Stanton, Freddie Freeman, Jonathan Lucroy, Matt Harvey, Corey Kluber." - From BAP's post. This one makes me nauseous. Imagine how a Stanton, or for that matter, a Zimmerman or a Freeman would have helped to put the breaks on this disaster.

Just hope that when this team finds itself back in contention some day that it has the type of leadership - "we're the team to beat" - that Rollins provided during the winning years.

Rollins in Dodger blue, that's going to take some getting used to.

Amaro could have done worse than Windle and Eflin for Rollins. The fact that he didn't almost shocks me.

Got a feeling that when RAJ is done cleaning house all we will have in the end is an empty room.

"Amaro getting 'nibbles.' Like the fool who my grandfather and I used to see early at Antietam Lake using a piece of corn/wet bread rolled up thinking he was going to catch stocked trout instead of a few sunnies." - MG I caught many a stocked trout on corn. You see, they are fed with food pellets in the nursery and it takes a few days for them to get used eating natural food. Don't think the old guy was such a fool after all.

There was a period starting with the signing of Jim Thome through 2011 That I thought the Phillies ownership "got it." The it being "if you build it they will come." They seemed to have turned the corner from being a small minded ownership in a big market city with no other baseball competition to one that finally realized it and went out and spent whatever it took to field a winner. On many occasions they even crowed about it. And the fans came in droves. Now when a little adversity hits they seem to be reverting to their old ways. Maybe, you can't buy your way out of this current mess but you sure can't penny-pinch your way out. I'm not advocating signing over-the-hill stars, but they should have signed a young guy like Tomas. Give the fans a reason to go to a game.

I agree with several of the previous posters. Forget the money for a minute. Forget that Tomas might not be the next Babe Ruth. Signing and adding a young talent like Tomas to the lineup tells me that they want try to get better sooner rather than later. Taking a pass on him tells me that I have no need to spend any time or money on this team till 2018 or beyond. The organization simply does not have enough young talent in its pipeline to pass on any young talent that costs you nothing but dollars, especially when the Comcast windfall is right around the corner.

Rube hasn't done a thing so far in the off-season to make me want to buy ticket one next year.
