Hi, Yes, the Bolshoi publishes a beautiful brochure for their upcoming season, which you can access via pdf on their site in the press section, link here: On page 58/59 they have the list of their New York dates, The Taming of the Shrew will be July 26 -30! And Jewels will be performed beginning July 20.
The Bolshoi is in fact coming to NYC next summer, and they are performing a week (?) run of The Taming of the Shrew in addition to a segment from Jewels with NYCB and POB! The Taming of the Shrew was just broadcast in cinemas this past January, and had a great deal of success since, along with their performances in London. Good thing we still get to see them before they hit NYC running, with the opening of the cinema season this October.
Cast was just announced on the Bolshoi Ballet in US facebook page! Svetlana and Edvin Revazov are confirmed. Along with Anna Tikhomirova, Semyon Chudin and Vyacheslav Lopatin as Count N.
Thanks for posting this Haglund. And I completely agree with you, teachers absolutely need to encourage their students and community members to attend these performances, especially in areas where opportunities to see the arts aren't as abundant as they are in larger cities. I am sure that a concerted effort from teachers and dance fans, and really anyone who has interest in the arts to spread the word about these performances will only make their future broadcasts more stable and allow for a more varied rep. The Bolshoi truly make a huge effort to put on these performances for a worldwide audience. I have been backstage during a broadcast and you can't imagine how the whole company, production crew, stage crew, and even the fabulous Katya Novikova takes care and effort to prepare for the transmissions. The whole company comes together and wants to share this beauty with the world. The Lady of the Camellias will be gorgeous I am sure. And from the Bolshoi, it is such an emotional performance. I can't wait to see it live.
Fathom is also presenting the live Bolshoi Ballet productions this season! They are showing only 4 of 7 of the Bolshoi titles: The Legend of Love, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet. The rest of the season is here:
Pathe Live, who has the worldwide rights to the Bolshoi Ballet will continue to serve US venues with live broadcasts and screenings of the Bolshoi Ballet, which is a wonderful thing. A new Manhattan venue will be announced very soon for the upcoming Lost Illusions. It may not be live, but it will definitely be in New York City!
