Thanks for the video, Garr. I'm a big Tufte fan having purchased the books years ago and got my money's worth time and time again from them. But this is the first time I've seen the man in action live-ish. I particularly love this line from him:
The distribution of excellence is fiercely log-normal, skewed, long-tailed. That means there isn’t much of it. You need to develop a taste for excellence and take it seriously. Instead of keeping up with hashtag data vis, study excellence sometime. All the time. And ask “how did they do this?” Make that your standard.
And that is exactly what Edward Tuftes' books have done for me.
