Between delays, rough patches, and lack of focus I was very worried about my capstone project. Originally it felt that James and I were all over the map with our plans and approach to a marketing plan for CMC Properties but after some strong and stern advice from Drew, James and I were back on the path to having a good presentation for CMC Properties. As we prepared for the final presentation, it appeared that we had zigged when we should have zagged and completely missed the mark. This was both disheartening and crushing to what we thought was a... Continue reading

It's both unreal and amazing to think that we are in the final two weeks of the project for CMC Properties with the presentation to be done on April 16th. To say that time flew on this project would be an understatement as it only seems like yesterday we received the email about who our client was going to be and had our initial meeting. Fast forward to today and I can only be grateful for the friends and connections I made during my time in undergrad. The physical piece of the direct mail marketing campaign that we will be... Breaks are something that everyone should take if possible. The last week I did not do much, and still had to work full time but it gave me a chance to just take an academic breather and look back on the project from where we started to where we are at now. The project's focus has changed dramatically and third was for the better. We are now looking at the competition and compiling a strong RTB list for CMC Properties that will result in a direct marketing campaign. I am happy with this approach and think it will provide a... Meeting with Drew for our second project review James and I are now performing a 180 in the direction we were heading with our capstone. Originally we were focusing on Quadrant I in order to claim new clients. These were individuals that currently worked from home and would like to get into an office or try and persuade them to get into an office. This forest approach was on suggested by the Regional Manager on what they were looking for, but after meeting with Drew that all is changing. James and I are now looking at Quadrant IV instead of... As we continue our market research for the CMC Properties, one thing has become abundantly clear; getting participants for the research is very hard. To give context, CMC Properties core competency is their leasing availability for small and medium businesses under 20 employees. They allow for a significant amount of customization as well as the ability to expand an office. Due to CMC Properties focus on the small and medium sized businesses, our subjects for the research narrows down to small and medium sized businesses looking for leasing or working from home. Reaching these people however is a lot easier... Continue reading

During our first meeting with Chasta my partner and I were given some information and research that CMC Properties did themselves. The research was insightful as a preliminary starting point; however we would need substantially more data and research to get meaningful information on the perception of CMC Properties core competencies and how they can use that in order for us to create a meaningful differentiation strategy campaign. However, the problem that we are going to run into and currently have to contend with is how do we get the information we need. CMC Properties has given us the go... Continue reading

At the start of this class we discussed our biggest concerns and for me that was time. This became quite the reality over the last two weeks due to a combination of January's month-end as an accountant, getting very sick, and having a convention to attend. To say that I was stretched on time would be an understatement. Falling behind in both the Capstone class and another class within the MS Marketing program has made catching up very difficult. However, the hard part is now behind me and I'm looking forwards to the next few weeks and the tasks that... Continue reading

On Monday, James and I met up with our contact for the initial interview. I am both very excited for this capstone project but also rather nervous as I previously stated. The problem that we have before us is one that is a combination of branding, acquisition, and also what might be an industry change. As CMC Properties has a narrow differentiation model that focuses on small and in some cases medium sized businesses. This business model has suited them well for many years; however recently they have rather high occuptation however they have a lower than wanted economic occupation.... Continue reading

I am ery excited but also quite nervous for this capstone project. James Cloud and I are working with CMC Properties, knwon for their residenial and office spaces. I think that it will be a great experience but I am very worried about messing up or or failing to take the knowledge we learned in class and turn it into action. Meeting up with my partner for the project over the weekend we came up with some quality questions for our initial interview later today. The biggest problem that we think we might run into is getting the market research... Continue reading

It seems now that whenever one tries to buy a game, the first question they will get during their purchase is, "would you like to grab the season pass?" Season passes are now on almost every game, whether it's a single player experience such as Shadows of Mordor or the... Continue reading

With the recent announcement of the release of the Warlords of Draenor expansion pack coming to World of Warcraft, one must wonder "how well is World of Warcraft doing?" Three months ago, it was announced that World of Wrarcraft had lost 800,000 subscribers and sits at 6.8 million active subscibers.... Continue reading

On September 4th, the Xbox One launched in Japan, though to subpar results. To some, the thought that this is bad and that this is just a Microsoft problem is prevalent; however the console market is dying in Japan. Whether you are Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft the console market has... Continue reading
