I think that the resurrection of the Kratz era warrants the resurrection of Beerleaguer, no?

Does anyone other than me like the idea of Cody Ross over Francoeur and Sizemore?

Re: JW's Tweet, one thing is certain: whether or not any one of the Venezuelan utility infielders pan out this spring, at least two (and probably three) will be on the opening day roster.

1 yr/$5.5 is about the best-case scenario for Kendrick. I'm glad he got a job. So there are four players left from 2008: Hamels, Howard, Utley, Ruiz. There are only three additional holdouts from that amazing 2011 club: Lee, De Fratus, Brown. It will be interesting to see how many from that batch of four/seven remain after August 1st. Also, if you want to get nostalgic, check out the numbers on that 2011 team, especially among pitchers. My god.

aksmith, Utley lives in SoCal during the off-season with his family.

Bonehead, the sad thing about your prognostication is that it's more or less a (realistic) best-case scenario. I think we would all be pretty happy to see that deal, or a similar one, get done. Also, I was wondering about Ryan Madson recently and am glad to see him getting a shot somewhere. I would have liked to have seen the Phillies take a flyer on him, but what would be the point, other than driving up Madson's career numbers in a Phillies uniform?

So, I guess at the moment it projects to be: Revere Ruiz Utley Howard Ruf 7 / Franco 5 Brown 9 Asche 5/7 Galvis Rupp, Hernandez, Herrera, Sizemore, Francoeur/quad-A stiff Hamels, Lee, W. Rodriguez (?), Williams, Buchanan Papelbon, Giles, Diekman, Araujo, De Fratus, two of MAG/Jimenez/Rule 5 guy/Neris/Hollands (or Aumount/Garcia) Here are the changes from the 2014 opening day roster, contrasting a "contending" roster and "rebuilding" club (as it stands at the moment): Rollins -> Galvis Byrd -> Ruf / Franco Nieves -> Rupp Mayberry, Gwynn -> Sizemore, Francoeur/whoever Burnett, Kendrick, Hernandez -> W. Rodriguez (?), Williams, Buchanan Bastardo, Lincoln, Rosenberg, Manship -> Giles, Araujo, MAG/Jimenez/Rule 5/Neris

I didn't realize what a large role Beerleaguer played in my life until I lost it for a few days. I thought I'd be stuck wading through all that weird millennial humor to read decent Phillies conversations over at TGP for the foreseeable future. Getting Beerleaguer back truly feels like a holiday-season miracle. Anyway, carry on!

I, for one, am certainly glad to have that dizzying pace in my rear-view mirror.

Yeah, that's impressive, awh. When I signed on to read today's posts, I thought at first that you were describing the actual terms of the contract, not making a prediction.

GBrett: Agreed on Raul. Since this is almost definitely his last season, I'm rooting for him to find his way back into the roster picture and get some chances.

Bubba: Don't forget former ex-Phillie supersub OF Ezequiel Carrera.

One thing that I think we do know about Cesar Hernandez is that he's not much of a shortstop, at any level.
