On Friday, Class 7 were very lucky to have the artist , Peter Baldry, come into school to work with us. We created 3D butterflies for the tree, which has been painted in the Old Hall. Peter taught us how to make sure our butterfly was symmetrical and how to use the colour wheel so that we could use complimentary and contrasting colours. The results are gorgeous. The butterflies are on display now in the Old Hall. Posted with Blogsy Continue reading

In Guided Reading today we read an extract from a Fantasy genre story called 'The Nowhere Emporium' written by Ross McKenzie. We all thought it was mysterious and magical and loved the part where the silver magpies flew from behind the curtains. If your child would like to purchase this book it is available from most internet bookstores at a very reasonable price or they could become members at your local library and request to borrow this book for free. Happy Reading Everyone :) Posted with Blogsy Continue reading

In Guided Reading this half term Mrs Kerr's readers will be looking at different authors by reading extracts from lots of different books. I will be putting the details of these books onto our website incase the children would like to purchase these books or request them from their local library. Today we have read an extract from ''Outlaw" by Michael Morporgo. Most of the children loved the extract with only 1 person stating that they preferred funny stories to the adventure genre. Amazon and other internet book shops have this book at very reasonable prices. Joining any library is free for your child and they can request any book if the library do not stock it. Happy Reading everyone! Posted with Blogsy Continue reading

Porchester Junior Shool joined many other people around the world in experiencing the eclipse. We got together in the hall and watched Eclipse Live, then went to experience the eclipse for ourselves. Outside was quite eery and the birds stopped singing as it became darker and cooler. Check out our photos of how we were experiencing today's eclipse. Posted with Blogsy Continue reading

This week our guitarists put on a spectacular show of their musical skills. Our resident guitar teacher uses popular music to enable his pupils to learn and hone their plucking and strumming skills. We were treated to fabulous renditions of 'Shake it off' and 'Uptown Funk' and they had the whole hall rockin' - well done guitarists you were amazing. Posted with Blogsy Continue reading

Last Tuesday a group of mixed year group children got the chance to go with Mrs Kerr and Mrs Parr to Carlton Acadedmy for a Clay workshop. We were taught how to make tiles from the clay and used surrealist paintings to inspire us. We created a whole picture as a team by individually moulding sections of the picture, using a variety of tools to create different artistic effects on the clay. Well done to the children who attended the session and keep your eyes peeled for the final piece of artwork over the coming weeks. Posted with Blogsy Continue reading
