Or they might wilt again and retreat haphazardly leaving their equipment behind towards the Peshmerga line because the Peshmergas has the best forces that could tackle Daesh at this time.
What is wrong if Bibi speaks before Congress? Think you are just making a mountain out of a molehill here, Col. Lang. Even Iran has not said anything about Bibi's speech to Congress.
And yet, those Kurds are the most effective fighting force in combatting ISIS. The Iraqis would not be ready and, in my opinion, would never be ready because they have a tendency to wilt when they became the recipient of an ISIS attack. When they (Iraqis) attack Mosul, think they will do the same tactic (retreat in a disorganized fashion thus leaving their equipment behind) again towards the Kurdish lines and let the Kurds face the brunt of the attack. My 2 cents worth of opinion, really. Hopefully, that scenario will not become reality.
The liberals (or left wing)were the ones who was angered when "American Snipers" became a block buster in the movies. They could not understand the reason why. Chris Kyle has been embraced by the conservatives and in my opinion, maybe they could not fathom why a movie that portrays a conservative backed character and directed by Clint Eastwood (a conservative director) would become a blockbuster when, to their way of thinking, it should have sank. "In just 10 days of wide release, director Clint Eastwood’s masterpiece has already grossed $200 million. Box Office Mojo now predicts “Sniper” will easily pass the $350 million mark and could possibly gross $400 million." http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2015/01/26/math-american-sniper-to-out-gross-all-18-anti-war-on-terror-films-combined/ Here is a nice piece on why the American left hates "American Sniper." http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2015/01/23/american-sniper-witness-intolerance-burns-inside-the-left-like-a-poison/ Hopefully, this will clear whatever fogginess are on your head and others, too...
"And why is the American public so mad for this film?..." Welcome to what 'liberalism' has become, Col. Lang. Even we Conservatives were at a loss. One of the reason might be the libs were not expecting the film to be a HUGE blockbuster at the tills...
At least, the Kurds has the courage to fight. Read somewhere that a unit of Iraqi troops (pls. correct the info if wrong) retreated haphazardly when confronted by the Daesh attack. If not for the Kurdish special forces in Gwer (w/c subsequently were reinforced by Peshmergas)Gwer might be in Daesh hand again.

The Syrian Kurds under Abdullah Öcalan and the Iraqi Kurds under President Masoud Barzani.
"makosog said... Col., How about the 2 factions of Kurdistan..." What I meant were the 2 main factions...
Col., How about the 2 factions of Kurdistan, the Iraqi Kurds and the Syrian Kurds? They have been carrying the brunt of the fighting...
They should have just upgraded their existing aircraft, just as the former Soviet Union and the present Russia is doing. (Pls. correct if info is wrong.)

That is why my previous observation still stands: Think they (the Obama Admin.) might be looking for a Def. Secretary w/c they could control and mold from within. If that happens, then we will be in for 2 years of indecisiveness w/c has been the hallmark of the Obama Admin. I cringe where ISIS will be after 2 years of this...
And we still have 2 more long years of Obama's policies...wonder where ISIS will be in those 2 years...
She has no military background? Think we will be in for 2 long years of Obama indecisiveness w/c has been the hallmark of his Admin. I cringe where ISIS will be in those 2 years...

update on the simmering division of ISIS against Al Queda... http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2014/11/al_qaeda_in_the_arab_1.php Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), an official branch of al Qaeda, has released a video rejecting the Islamic State's announced caliphate and chastising the group for sowing discord among jihadists.

Israel has never signed the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, w/c has been in force since 1970.
Col. Lang, could the Yemeni model be replicated on the other Arab states? If so, it could lead on the stabilization of the Mid east.
an update on the so called alliance of ISIS and Al-Nusra... http://syriahr.com/en/2014/11/negotiations-failed-between-the-is-jabhat-al-nusra-and-islamic-battalions/
Think the alliance that has been allegedly forged is just on the tactical level, not on a strategic level.
And we still have 2 more years to contend w/ Obama's policies...wonder where Daesh will be in 2 years...double sigh...
Think I read somewhere that those in the Sunni area were Sunni dominated?
Why could they not put a Shiite-Sunni combination as an army? The camaraderie that that would engender would be enough to unify them.
There is an ongoing peace negotiation between Ocalan, the head of the Syrian Kurdistan Party and Turkey now. Maybe an autonomous Kurdistan is the answer.
To me, by letting the Kurds, Shiites, Sunnis and the tribes do the fighting, this will give rise to camaraderie among them and thus engender unity amongst them. And also this would mean a piecemeal destruction of ISIS, in w/c it would find it hard to recover. Of course, we have to give them help in whatever form they request from us.
What the Col. must mean are if the ISIS is successful in establishing their Caliphate, they will then have a base in w/c to plan a major attack in the U.S. and then those ISIS jihadists who are American citizens will then come home establishing terrorist cells here.
