I wont be exaggerating if I say that attention is important in understanding and explaining all our linguistic choices. For example, in English we say 'clear the table' and the attention here is focused on the table. However, in other languages in order to express the same idea, you should focus on the items on the table and not the table. So, this gives evidence that space and attention are two interlinked factors that are indispensable in the creation of meaning.

Unlike traditional grammar, attention based syntax is a new perspective of examining grammatical structures and patterns. It offers a cognitive explanation of meaning as created by a number of factors including attention. However, it is a theory and I do believe it has many important implications and applications if it is examined within discourse analysis.
