Timber Ridge will be hosting a Career Day for 3rd - 5th grade students on May 16, 2016 from 8:15 - 11:15. Kindergarten through Second Grade will participate in Career on Wheels on May 23, 2016 from 8:30 -10:30. Each event allows the students to learn about a variety of careers and bring a greater awareness to the students about potential careers, what education/training is necessary to prepare for the career, and what the work environment is like. Students in first and second grade learned the difference between TATTLING and TELLLING. The first grade students saw the story "Don't Squeal If It's Not a Big Deal". They had an opportunity to sort situations into SQUEAL (which is TELLING) and NO SQUEAL (which is TATTLING). Each class received a reminder poster of when it is appropriate to TELL or SQUEAL. Students in second grade heard the story "Tattle Tongue". First and second Grade students will learn how to be Bucket Fillers at the beginning of September. First grade will hear the story "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" by Carol McCloud and second grade will hear "How Full is Your Bucket? for Kids" by Tom Rath. Each class will discuss ways to become Bucket Fillers and how to avoid being a Bucket Dipper. Third grade will also receive a bucket filling lesson; and fourth and fifth grade will review the importance of "bucket filling".
