Jessica, thanks for sharing about your experiences as a mother with children with Special needs and as a representative within IEP. I too have never heard of IEPs until I started my Masters of Science in Special Education with the Walden University. Through Walden, I understand the IEP to a program in which children with special needs benefit from individualized attention from a special educator.
I am a regular teacher who practice my pedagogical skills at a high school in Jamaica and would look to garner more information on IEPs. I strongly believe that your experiences as a mother and as a special educator will assist you with being a more effective mentor for other parents who have children with special needs.
