Hi Julie,
your Aran sweater is my favourite sweater pattern for boy bunnies, those autumn colour yarns are just stunning, I will have to buy some more yarn! I always love seeing your work but it's especially uplifting on a stormy, wet, autumn day.

Autumn colours
Spending time in the woods has really influenced my knitting this month. I've been drawn to all of the russets, rusts and reds that are the colours of autumn leaves. And the urge to knit small cosy cabled sweaters has been too strong to resist. As a result I've got quite a coll...
Hi Julie, thank you for sharing the petition, I have signed it and will share with family and friends.
It makes me sad and angry beyond words that this is happening in our country. The care system seems to be completely broken, we should not feel 'lucky' if our loved one is getting good care! For years now it appears that our politicians are thinking only about are their own political careers and can say the right things at election time but change doesn't happen.
You are a marvellous mum to Amy and Toby and I admire you so much. Xx
A little haven of peace and calm
In the depths of winter, when dusk arrives just after 3pm, my favourite place to sit and knit is snuggled up by the fire. But once the days start to lengthen and warm I'm itching to get outside and sit in the shade of the tree, with the touch of a warm breeze on my skin and the spr...
The blue outfits are so lovely Julie. Glad you had a lovely Easter break with your family. Always a treat to see a LCR email in my inbox. Sue x
Catching up
Hello and sorry to have been absent for so long. The school break times are a little bit of a challenge in our household - as always Toby finds the change in routine very unsettling and having him around 24/7, though lovely, is demanding, so not much else gets done. For most of Apr...
Love these Julie, just bought the patterns. I can't wait to make some for the grandchildren for Easter.
Happy Easter to you all

mini bunnies and bears, two new patterns
Earlier this year I started playing around with the idea of a mini version of my knitted bunnies. I wanted a pattern that was a little simpler to knit and construct than my regular sized animals (they are shown in the picture above for comparison), and I also wanted...
Your Sunday morning sounds just perfect Julie, Love that yarn too!
A perfect Sunday
The perfect Sunday morning. What would yours be like? Mine would look exactly like the top picture and I was lucky enough for that to be part of my Sunday yesterday. My idea of the perfect Sunday is :: waking up when you've had enough sleep, rather than to the sound of ...
Hi Julie, your photos are beautiful. Snowdrops are my favourite spring flower. Glad you had a lovely walk. Sue x
snowdrop walk
It's the school half term break this week so Toby and I are sat here at the moment watching Cbeebies together (teletubbies is still one of his absolute favourites). We're still getting over the colds, which seem to be lingering on as sniffles and coughs, so we'll be...
Gorgeous photos as always Julie, so lovely to hear from you. Just love those blue socks!

February blues
February might be the shortest month but it always feels to me like time runs much more slowly in February than in any other month. To be honest I'm tired of grey, dreary, overcast days and I'm so looking forward to feeling the days lengthen out and seeing brighte...
Thank you for your insight and the links Julie. X
Some thoughts...
Since I was last here there has been a lot going on in the knitting community; a lot of discussion, a lot of confusion and a huge amount of emotion - all of it centered around racism. There have been a growing number of voices who have had the courage to speak and share personal experience...
Happy New Year Julie and best wishes to you all.
Look forward to your new patterns.....

Easing into the new year
Thanks so much for all of your kind wishes for the New year. I hope that 2019 has been good to you so far and that you're doing better with any resolutions or plans for the year ahead than I am! We did have a lovely Christmas with Amy back here. Every time I opened the bathroom cabinet...
Happy New Year to you all Julie, hope 2019 is a great year for you all. Sue x
happy new year xx
It's just a brief note from me today, simply to wish you and those you love a very happy and healthy beginning to 2019. I hope that your year ahead is full of many smiles and memorable good times. These are some of my memorable things from 2018 and I'm looking forward to sharing 2019 with ...
Hi Julie, just a note to wish you and the family a peaceful and happy Christmas. Enjoy Amy being home, her new room is stunning, she will love it!
December P & P
Do you find that the start of December is all about planning and preparation? It certainly feels that way here and although we don't have a huge Christmas celebration, we do like a quiet, cosy family day with good food, a roaring fire, some fun and a glass or two of som...
Hi Julie
Your knitting and your photos are just perfection. We have all missed you these last few weeks and hope you feel better soon, as I am sure you will when all the family are together again for Christmas.
November remembered
< November days seem to have sped past me here, and although I've been busy with lots of different things I don't seem to have much to show for them, though I have managed to snap a few pictures along the way. Autumn has peaked, with all it's ...
Congratulations to the winners! I think my favourites will always be the bunnies (but which one, an impossible choice!) but those lambs are very lovely too. It is great that you still get so much pleasure from knitting them Julie and good to know you have lots more ideas. Hope we hear from you again soon. Sue x
Finishing touches
Thank you again for all of the amazing, inspiring, smile-evoking, heartwarming and generally all round lovely comments on the giveaway post. It's been such a joy to read them and to hear about all of the things, whether big and momentous or small and personal, that ...
Congratulations on 12 years of blogging Julie! Being on holiday in Scotland is making me very happy today, I feel very blessed to be here. Your latest batch of animals looks like it will be very hard for the lucky winner to choose! Best wishes, Sue x
Time for a giveaway
Back on September 3rd it was my 12th anniversary of starting this blog, and in keeping with tradition (which admittedly lapsed a bit last year) I'm going to celebrate (a little belatedly) with a giveaway. In this crate are fourteen little animals that have been patiently waiting for me...
Lovely photos Julie, looks like you had a perfect autumn day. X
A proper autumn walk
Well, yesterday looked like being the very best day of the week weather-wise, so I decided to go adventuring in the woods with my camera (and this time with my walking boots too). These woods are very local, being part of Goldingtons nature reser...
Hi Julie, so glad you are settling into a new routine and that Amy is having a great time at Uni. Autumn is the best time for planning new projects isn't it and your socks are knitting up beautifully. I hope you haven't had all this awful rain we have had this weekend but candles and knitting help! Looking forward to seeing your new batch of animals and congratulations on 12 years of very successful blogging, so look forward to your posts. Sue x
cosying on a windy day
Our 'new normal' is beginning to feel familiar now, with returns to comfortable routines for the three of us here and Amy settling in well and having a great time away at Uni. For most of the last week I've been sorting my tangled mess of knitting projects and tidying t...
Aaah Julie, it's completely normal to feel like you do. So enjoy another cuppa, a bit of knitting and think about your lovely daughter, those jobs can wait. Amy will be having a brilliant time in freshers week, and before you know it she will be home again, with bags of washing no doubt! I do love your matching rings,a lovely idea. Xx
A parting and some subsequent faffing
Well, as expected this weekend has been odd. Amy and I set off with a fully laden car at 8ish yesterday morning and by 9.30 were carrying the bags and boxes containing all of her worldly goods up the 2 flights of stairs to her room on the top floor. We unpacked everything and made ...
I can see from.your wonderful photos that you have all enjoyed the summer break. Amy looks very relaxed after her exams and her results are just brilliant. I am sure she will have a fabulous time at university. And Toby looks like he has had a brilliant summer too, what a brilliant bike that is. Enjoy some time to yourself now Julie. Looking forward to seeing your next project. Happy knitting.

what we did this summer...
Well hello again, long time no see! The school summer holidays finished on Tuesday of last week, when Toby went back to school but to be honest I was feeling a bit exhausted, so I took the rest of the week to cur...
Love them Julie, have just added them to my collection of LCR patterns.
Enjoy the rest of the holidays.

New Patterns
Hello from the middle of the school summer holidays! This is a flying visit because free time is currently in short supply for me here but things are generally going well. Toby is being kept busy and the weather has been glorious, though a little hotter than we are used to. The...
Here in West Cumbria it hasn't rained for over 2 months, and no doubt when it starts it will forget to stop so we are making the most of it too and enjoying eating outside in the evening.
Your photos are beautiful as always. Your garden robins have done really well with your generous help. And I love Toby's swing chair, perfect for knitting.
Enjoy your knitting Julie, lovely to hear from you again. Sue x
Long hot summer
If you asked me when it last rained here I honestly wouldn't be able to come up with an answer - certainly it's been hot and dry for weeks. I'm old enough to remember the summer of 1976, in which the UK baked under endless blue skies and ended up with water shortages, d...
What a lovely idea Julie, I am sure Amy will treasure her vouchers and her time with you this summer holiday. You will certainly have lots to talk about and plan for, exciting times!

Summer holiday kit (teenager style)
Well, I'm now the mum of a school leaver! Amy had her last A level exam yesterday and has officially left school. When she was younger I used to love putting together a little summer holiday kit which I'd give to her when she got home on the last day of school term (here's some from earlie...
So pleased the robins have fledged safely Julie. Your knitting is beautiful as always, I love those blue tones. Have a wonderful half term, good luck to Toby in the school play and of course Amy in her A levels.
Late May
The days seem to be whizzing by at the moment and all of our schedules are up in the air here. Toby had his annual school play last week, which always throws our comfortable routines out of whack as he's off timetable and his school is open in the evening rather...
Hi Julie, hope you feel better soon. Enjoy those robins and your new yarn!
Love, Sue x
Properly Spring
Well, it's been a long time coming but Spring has arrived at last. Although the weather has still seemed a little undecided at times, the countryside around us here has been pressing ahead with new growth and everything is now transformed from dull, ...
Hi Julie, once again you have brightened my day with your lovely bunnies. There is no better time of year for pictures of bunnies! A happy Easter to you and yours.

Happy Easter
Just popping in briefly to wish you all a happy Easter. Thanks to LoveKnitting for the invitation to take over their Instagram account for the day last Friday, I had a great time chatting with everyone and sharing pictures from my day and it was lovely to see lots of famili...
Hi Julie, glad you are able to knit again after your fall. I fractured both my wrists 4 years ago after falling on ice and I really missed my knitting. Your photographs are beautiful as always. No blossom here in Cumbria yet, but it won't be long. Have a good day on Instagram, best wishes, Sue x
blossoming time
Thank you so very much for all of the kind comments on the previous post, I am still processing the amazing win and happily my wrist seems to be completely back to normal now, so knitting is back on the menu. After another cold snap bringing snow our way last we...
