This week Taylor and I focused on wrapping up our capstone project from the powerpoint presentation to the written report. Taylor has taken the lead on creating an informative and visually appealing presentation based off the notes from class. On Saturday we printed our draft report and began doing our final edits. We are hoping to complete our edits early this week in order to have peers review our report and provide feedback. We have scheduled our presentation with our client for 9 am on April 21st at Greater Cincinnati Water Works headquarters. Our client has asked to meet prior... Continue reading

This past week I focused on contacting several additional commercial consumers regarding their use of water in their business operations. I received some insightful testimonials from Rohs Street Cafe and Coffee Emporium. I also sent follow up questions to Jeff Vogt at GCWW. Jeff provided us with additional information on GCWW's brand. With the capstone coming to an end, we have been working tediously to compile all of our research into a final presentation and written report for our client. Last weeks class was very insightful. The tips we learned on how to present our capstone project to our client... Continue reading

After about a month of feeling confused and without a clear direction, I feel Taylor and I are heading down the right path with our project. We finally heard back from our client after about a month. I was nervous to hear her response regarding our decision to realign. It was a relief to hear that she supported our decision and thought that our new strategy sounded amazing. Taylor and I did not stop working over spring break. We packed the week up with research. On Tuesday, we scheduled a tour of the Miller Treatment Plant on Kellogg Ave, in... Continue reading

Project Review 2 was extremely beneficial. It showed Taylor and I that the struggles we were facing with our project called for realignment. I am glad that Professor Boyd agreed that our project was getting out of scope and that focusing on outsourcing consumers was a project in itself. We contacted our client after our meeting explaining our need for realignment, and once again we have yet to hear from our client regarding our newly identified deliverables. I don’t feel that this realignment will postpone our submission date, as we can salvage our already completed research and modules. Overall I... Continue reading

This past week was a stressful week in my capstone world, trying to balance my work life, school life, and capstone life. I feel somewhat a sense of guilt that my personal life took precedence over my capstone project this week. I think I feel these emotions as major changes in all aspects of my life are coming to fruition (career advancement opportunities, getting married May 14th, and finishing my masters). I am sure I will continue on this emotional rollercoaster as our project moves on. As for our project, I spent several hours in the car traveling to and... Continue reading

I am starting to feel a little anxious as the end of our capstone project is near. Overall I feel like Taylor and I are in a good spot with our project and are prepared for our upcoming check in meeting with Professor Boyd. We are working on our last few modules (customer market research, brand development, and communication strategy), and will continue to press on with writing the various sections of our report and developing our presentation deck. Our customer market research is the section of our project where I am the most nervous. We have yet to receive... Continue reading

Last week was surprisingly calm in our capstone world, which has me a little nervous as we head into this final stretch. We continued to progress with our project, wrapping up our recommended big pictures for GCWW’s three consumer target audience. At our weekly, Sunday at Starbucks meeting, Taylor I focused on developing 4B’s for each consumer segment. This module will be beneficial to our client as it clearly define the strategies we are recommending they pursue for each consumer segment. The 4B’s will allow GCWW to gain insight into their target audiences and the beliefs their consumers have about... Continue reading

This week Taylor and I had our long awaited client check in. I was nervous for the meeting because it has been over a month since we met with our client in-person and communication has been sparse since the water crisis in Flint, Michigan erupted. For our meeting, we prepared a presentation that covered what we have been working on. This included a brief summary of our attribute value maps, quantitative and qualitative research, communication strategy, and digital strategy. We planned on conducting our internal marketing audit with our client and her colleagues during our check-in. I was pleasantly surprised... Continue reading

This week, Taylor and I continued our market research. We focused on in-depth interviewers with GCWW commercial consumers. We expected to receive a list of our clients top 75 commercial consumers prior to starting this phase of our research, but unfortunately we have still not received the list from our client. I am hopeful that we will get the list at our next meeting. Without the list in hand, Taylor and I brainstormed a list of large business in Cincinnati that consume water, specifically GCWW’s water. I was able to conduct successful and very informative interviews with the University of... Continue reading

We are diving in! Our week began with our first project review with Professor Boyd. I was excited to see how Professor Boyd thought we were doing and to also get feedback on the modules we have been working on. It was a relief to hear from Professor Boyd that we are doing a great job with our project and that he is excited to see the final outcome. The water crisis in Flint, Michigan has had some affect on our communication with our client as media outlets have been contacting GCWW for their water expertise. Taylor and I have... Qualitative and quantitative research has been the focus of our capstone week. Taylor and I were fortunate to receive numerous reports, survey findings, and marketing collateral from GCWW. It is a little overwhelming the amount of resources we received and am still trying to wrap my head around all the documents and the information they withhold. I have come to the realization that more resources is better than no resources. Our research focus has been on the consumer market, GCWW as a company, and GCWW's internal stakeholders. Taylor and I began our research by taking inventory of the resources received,... Continue reading

The week of January 11th, was very exciting in my capstone world. It began by officially meeting my capstone partner. Professor Boyd definitely has some matchmaker skills. He could have not put me with a better partner. It is impressive how much Taylor and I have in common and how well our working styles compliment each other. In the first week of capstone, Taylor and I had our initial client meeting with Greater Cincinnati Water Works. The initial client meeting was exciting but also nerve racking. I was excited to be working with a local company with rich history and... Continue reading
