In the past week and a half, Ryan and I have gotten a lot of information that we did not previously have about The Faculty Club. Firstly, our survey was sent out and was a great success for our research efforts, currently at over 400 respondents. However, the feedback was less than to be desired. Much of what they provided we had already known about, but there were a lot of issues that had nothing to do with TFC itself, but with the building in which it resides. While we have already concluded that the Club will not be able... Continue reading

The fact that we are a week away from being halfway to the end of the term has really started to sink in. While I am very excited about the ideas that we are generating and the feedback we are receiving from The Faculty Club, the amount of time we have left seems to be working against us when considering our slower progress speed. Distribution of our survey is taking longer than expected. I have been in contact with the provost’s office about providing support with distribution and they seem to be very interested in helping. However, the provost is... Continue reading

This week was very productive for Ryan and myself. We finalized our charter for The Faculty Club and I was able to meet with Deborah (our client) to discuss what the rest of the semester will look like. However, we are having a bit of difficulty with the distribution of our initial survey. Ours is unique in that we are targeting UC faculty and staff members, so we are trying to get the support of the provost, who is an advocate for The Faculty Club, to assist us with the distribution. This week we will focus on that because it... Continue reading

This past week, Ryan and I attended The Faculty Club’s board meeting, which I really enjoyed and appreciated that they had invited us (and not just because of the delicious scones Chef David prepared for us!). It was actually very interesting to see the dynamics of how the Club is run by the decision-makers. Because the board of governors is comprised of faculty members and retired faculty members, with the exception of the Chef, there isn’t anyone who is running the club as their full-time job. Chef David does an exceptional job at maintaining the day-to-day operations, but he unfortunately... Continue reading

So this week marks us one more closer to the end of the term, but it feels like it's one week further away from being able to finalize our project. When we first started working with The Faculty Club, we thought the answer to their problems was rather simple. We thought for sure that once we raised awareness and added value for the younger faculty that the rest of the project would be a breeze. Boy, were we wrong. The further we got into researching and collecting information about The Club, the more we realized that there were much deeper... Continue reading

For those who don't know, Ryan and I are working with UC's Faculty Club on how we can increase membership and overall awareness of the Club. The Faculty Club is a restaurant located in Lindner Center and provides catering and event services as well as offering a full lunch menu and buffet. While membership is exclusive to faculty and staff, anyone is currently able to dine there due to such low membership rates. As of right now the club has 280 members, with 180 of them being retired faculty. Membership is down from 340 members only two years ago, and... Continue reading
