The local Lions boys team battled until no time was left to beat visiting Clearview 59-58 on two foul shot by Rasheer Fleming. In a wild last two minutes, Freshman Liam Gorman tied the game at 41, before Clearview increased the lead to 49-41 with over one minute left. The Gloucester City Lady Lions hosted visiting Clearview in a battle of ladies basketball. But for those in attendance the pre-game ceremonies is what many came to witness. Gloucester City, NJ (Dec. 20, 2019)—The Gloucester City LadyLions played a regulation game but needed overtime to defeat a stubborn Salem Rams 53 - 48. The Lady Lions struggled early but put together a strong 2nd half. The Lions had a brief meltdown that let the host Rams tie the game in the final minutes of regulation before sending into overtime. On a chilly night under the Wednesday Night Lights the Junior Class of 2021 defeated the upper Senior Class of 2020, 8-6 in a fierce battle by the two classes. The evening was upbeat and friendly with an Alumni tailgate party, the introduction of the GHS ROTC Color Guard and the crowning of Homecoming Queen Vanessa Pino and her Princess. The Annual Homecoming at GHS was held last night on the John Lynch Field. This year it celebrated the Alumni, with a tailgate party provided by the Holy City Publick House and a tour of the facility which many had walked through. The Rams coming off a loss in their first game of the season against Robbinsville were looking for their first win of the season.
