The Lions bounced back from a loss earlier in the week to Audubon by beating the West Deptford Eagles 2-1 on a 2 out single in the bottom 7 for the walk off win. The Rams, with two recent huge wins over the Overbrook Rams and powerhouse Pitman, were surprised by the young Lions' shooting and tough defense by Kaden Harris and Kevin Wall. The Annual City Championship Football Game between the G.C. Lions and crosstown rival Gloucester Catholic Rams was played under near perfect weather on Thanksgiving. The Lions 9-2 coming off a heartbreaking SJ Semi Finals defeat to Haddonfield hammered the archrival Rams 33-0 in a game that it appeared much worse then the score indicated. In one of the more exciting football games in recent years at GHS, the Lions defeated visiting Middle Twp in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group II Playoffs 35 - 34. 2021 GHS Graduate Crystal Johnson left behind a very busy and successful athletic career as a Lion, Johnson spent 4 years on the soccer field, 4 years on the hardwood basketball courts, as both team's captain and in between those seasons Johnson found time to participate on the softball field and track.
