I’m not sure when it happened or how it happened but I’ve been receiving many compliments lately for having a positive heart. Strangers are coming up to me in social settings and commenting how hopeful my view on life is. The shower me with many compliments, pointing out my fabulous sense of humour and the way I see good in everything. Continue reading

We are very good at starting things. Quick at getting excited, but when the motivation flees and disappears, what remains are half read books, incomplete plans, half diets, abandoned training programs, and way too many broken dreams. Continue reading

Anything and everything, no matter how trivial or petty, can always serve us well if we want to quit. After all, it’s a hell of a lot easier to give up and destroy, than it is to persist and patently, painstakingly build. Continue reading

I think living for the weekend is stupid. I think going through the motions of life and living to get away to Jamaica or Cuba is most unbecoming. I think tossing away a day of my life for a bit of fun and some stories to tell is unforgivable. Continue reading

It seems that everyone and everything has a magnificent and incorruptible soul. And maybe, just maybe, you and I would be better served, instead of barking out our personal orders, to stop and listen. To act accordingly, and just let go. Continue reading

You shouldn’t be surprised that if you work the return counter at a retail outlet that you’re going to hear some pretty silly stories and meet some very angry people. Continue reading

You’ve joyfully undertaken and suffered through several 30 day systems that promised you unbelievable and lasting results, just to end up back in the same place, and you’re probably a little worse for wear. But why not try a little compromise? Continue reading

At those downturns of our daily movements, which are bound to come sooner or later, it is important to remember that we become very vulnerable and susceptible to all form of pessimism and self-doubt. Continue reading

People celebrate the coming of the weekend like they are getting a reprieve from a life sentence. They see it as an opportunity to leave their prison cubicle for a little while. They thank God its Friday. A God they rarely think about or really believe in for that matter. Continue reading

Why does spring feel exactly the same as winter? Why does today feel exactly the same as yesterday? Why will tomorrow probably feel the same too? It’s will still be dark in the early morning. The temperature will warm up in the day, and dip below zero at night. Everything will appears to still be dead and all wildlife sill continue to hide. Continue reading

On my birthday in August of 2009 my dad was taken to the hospital because he was talking gibberish. He was making little sense, like he was drunk or worse. A day or so later we learned that his lungs were utterly exhausted from the many years of heavy smoking and from working in unsafe conditions at a chemical factory in Poland. In his early seventies his poor lungs could no longer expel the carbon monoxide that filled them and so he was slowly suffocating. Continue reading

Sometimes I sit back and listen enviously as people retell their dreams with such vivid detail, because it all sounds so entertaining and fun. It all seems so exciting and thrilling to have a chance to watch your very own private Hollywood thriller. It gives private screening a whole new meaning. Continue reading

Stop yelping, moaning, and bemoaning all the things you haven’t done yet for whatever the reason. Stop imagining how terrible it will feel if you fail. Stop caring what people will say. Stop focusing on your mistakes. Stop satisfying other people’s insecurities, as well as your own. Continue reading

Parenting is tough at times. An unscripted adventure, full of interruptions, tantrums, screams, petulant foot stomping, and when the kids are there, they certainly don’t make it any easier either. Continue reading

Our fears and those nagging voices in our head desperately long for security. They delude us into thinking that all will be fine if we learn to play it safe. If we avoid turning corners. If we stay on our familiar street. If we do this or that. If we save a bit, borrow a bit, or invest a little. It will all turn out alright if we just store enough canned goods in our nuclear bunker. Everything will be just fine. Continue reading

When we find ourselves confronted with the inability to do something, we have a choice to be either subjected to that weakness or to openly rage war against it. Continue reading

I look back at the many pieces of writing staring back, neatly labeled in my writing folder and I wonder who wrote them, how this person found the time, and where all those pockets of thought came from? Continue reading
