Embed from Getty Images The Philadelphia Union attack is in a weird place this season. They're creating chances at a good rate but they aren't necessarily good chances. But when a good chance is created, it doesn't end up in the back of the net. David Accam almost wants to... Continue reading

On Saint Patrick's day at Talen Energy Stadium, the Son's of Ben were gifted with a start from the new Philadelphia Union number 10, Borek Dockal in a 0-0 draw with the Columbus Crew. Replacing Anthony Fontana, Dockal looked like he needed time to settle in in the early going. But while that happened the Union defense held firm and kept the fast-starting Crew off of the scoreboard. In their second game together, the pairing of Auston Trusty and Jack Elliott looked more assured and were able to keep Zardes at bay. Continue reading

The expectations of the season rest on Borek Dockal producing. Photo Credit Philadelphia Union Communications During the history of the Philadelphia Union, the only accomplishments that the team has to hang their hat on are two US Open Cup final appearances and two playoff appearances that ended in two first-round... Embed from Getty Images With a preseason injury to Ilsinho, it looked like the Philadephia Union would open the season with a combonation of the unproven duo of Adam Najem and Anthony Fontana. While it would be good that the team would be playing their kids, it wouldn't bode well for a team that needs to win now following their investment in David Accam earlier this offseason. Luckily reports are showing that the Philadelphia Union are in negotiations with an attacking midfielder/right winger, Borek Dockal. The Czech international is currently playing for Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League following stops with AC Sparta Praha, Rosenborg BK, FC Slovan Liberec and Atiker Konyaspor during his career. Dockal has Europa League experience which could make this a very interesting get for the Philadelphia Union. His agency broke the news that he is traveling to the states for contract negotiations. It's looking like the Philadelphia Union are adding a new face to the coaching staff. After the departure of Mike Sorber to LAFC during the offseason, reports are coming out of the Netherlands that the Union have added Dick Schreuder as an assistant coach. Schreuder will leave his post as head coach of VV Katwijk in the Dutch third division to join the team. Continue reading

Image courtesy of Philadelphiaunion.com Hey guys, it's me just letting you know that I'm not dead as a Philadelphia Union writer. The issue was that for me to actually write something during this offseason, the team had to ya know, do something. Well after starting the offseason off with rumors... Continue reading

Last season was a rough one for the Hawks. Phil Martelli's men were hampered by injuries which led to them finishing 11-20 on the season. While they should be primed for a bounce-back year, the Atlantic 10 coach's poll has them predicted to finish third in the conference and that may be an ambitious goal. The trio of Shavar Newkirk, Lamarr Kimble and Pierfrancesco Oliva have a lot to prove after missing large parts of the season (or in Oliva's case, the entire season) and they will likely begin the year with some rust. The La Salle Explorers are entering the season with low expectations but that's just how head coach Dr. John Giannini likes it. Picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10 Coach's Poll, the Explorers are returning three of five starters from last season including preseason all-conference second-team selection, B.J. Johnson.... The Hawks are riding on one thing as a team this season, the health of Shavar Newkirk. With him, they were 7-5 last season and without him, they were 4-15. Newkirk has a decent shout at being A-10 player of the year this season after averaging 20.1 points per game... Continue reading

Following a disappointing season during which they finished eighth in the Atlantic 10 with a 9-9 conference record (19-19 overall), the Explorers are tipped to struggle again. The losses of Jordan Price and Demetrius Henry will be tough to cope with but the Explorers do have interesting options on the... Continue reading
