Similar to everyone else, I really can’t believe how fast this semester has gone! I’m really excited to be done with all the work and present to the client. I was really impressed with everyone’s presentations last week. It made me realize how different everyone’s project was, and how we used our marketing skills differently. I was really impressed with the RockFish group especially, because it sounds like they had a very difficult client, and they did something that we never learned in school. I admire that they were able to adapt and still provide the client with what they... Continue reading

As I mentioned in my last post, really starting to feel the “grind”. I’m a little worn out and exhausted from all the work that has pilled up, but trying to stay positive. Luckily, the bulk of our work has been complete, the next challenge will be packing our work in a compelling and impactful way. I think what has been interesting is we have met all of our deliverables, but the outcomes were very different than we expected. For example, we were hoping to spend most of our time on a very in-depth pricing strategy, but early on realized... Continue reading

Catching up on work- realized I forgot o post on Monday! As I said in my title, I am feeling the crunch! Between my personal life, the all star games, blast class, the mounding assignments from other classes, work and of course capstone, I’m feeling the grind and have had very little free time. This week marked a milestone in regards to presenting work to the client- we presented a lot of work/ recommendations. It was a challenge for me to present some of the work to them because it was very different than what I think they expected, but... Continue reading

This week has brought light to some new insights about our product concept. We have found from our quantitative research that people are not willing to pay very much for the type of product we’re creating. This is complicated because the product that the LiveWell team has designed solves a lot of problems for the user, but we are finding that the user is typically interested in simpler solutions. This also complicates things because we are trying to wrap up our product strategy, but realizing that our assumptions are different than expected and that strategies for pricing and product are... This past week we hit a few milestones; launched our survey and wrapped up product strategy work. We met with the Livewell team this week and facilitated an AVM exercise. Still having trouble engaging the designers to participate in the activities. It seems as though they are having trouble understanding that we are working on a team to create a project holistically, and that all inputs are needed to complete the project. I feel as though our team is gaining immense facilitation skills and interpersonal skills. I’ve realized that half of our job has become understating what motivates each designer... Continue reading

Last week our group had a little bit of fun hosting a small workshop for working on naming and branding for the project. It was fun to get everyone in a room to creatively brainstorm and let loose a little. Our approach for naming was very different then the last groups; the last group took variables directly from the AVM exercise and provided very literal names. Our group decided to go with a more creative approach by first completing the Brand Pyrmaid for the product, and then creating names based around the product/ brand’s essence. We also determined that the... Continue reading

Last week was a great milestone for our group. We knocked out our "master plan", and now we are executing with that plan.I personally feel much more confident now that we have completely establish what the client's expectations are, and what our deliverables will be. I am struggling a little with balancing the work load. I don't have much time between other classes and the amount of work I'm dealing with at my full time job.So one of my personal goals is to perfect my time management skills so that I have a consistent work flow for capstone work. Tomorrow... Continue reading

Wow, time is flying ! It’s amazing how quickly this semester is moving, not sure if it’s because it’s summer or because we are working with a more self directed project. I’m feeling good about where we are with our capstone work. At first meeting we gave our suggestions on what we thought the clients needed based on the work from the previous Marketing group, and luckily the client had a similar vision. From my perspective, this project has be a little challenging, as a designer I really want to help the design team finish developing the product design. There... Continue reading

One week into capstone and so far so good! This week we had our first initial meeting with our client and it went very well. I was a little apprehensive after seeing the work from the past group, they did such great work I was worried there wasn't much to add to the marketing strategy.I was extremely impressed with my group, we were able to go through the past work and map out potential deliverables pretty quick. So far it's been pretty interesting working with the other design students, I think working with a multidisciplinary team like this is similar... Continue reading

Having done a Capstone before, initially I was a little nervous to start Capstone, but now I’m feeling very enthusiastic! I’m thrilled to be working with the Livewell group because this is an organization I have followed through the years, but have never participated with any projects. I am most excited to take all my leanings from my accumulative experience as a student in the MS Marketing program, and apply them to a project with clients. I think it’s going to be a difficult semester, but I feel as though the potential for growth is immense. Capstone couldn’t have come... Continue reading
